Gaming Has Peaked?

Gaming analyst (Are these guys breeding? They seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately) Paul Jackson paints a bleak picture for the future of gaming. He says despite claims that gaming is replacing other forms of mainstream entertainment, gaming remains firmly a thing of young adult males.

Since gaming isn't really mass market, Jackson says the industry will start looking toward other ways to make money like in-game advertising and subscription gaming. Jackson is also of the school of thought that mobile gaming will (as in cellphone gaming) will supplant gaming on the GBA, PSP and DS.

I've spent past day or two reading through analyst reports spurred by CES, and I can say so far I'm not too impressed with their level of insight.
