TRUE STORY: Earlier this year, despite loving Okami, I gave up on it. Partly because I hit a dry spell in the game, but mostly because I'd convinced myself that they'd have to do a Wii version, and that I'd rather play that. 16:9 support, precision celestial brushwork...total no-brainer. Come June, though, I couldn't wait any longer and had to bust it out again. Looks like I made the right move, because while not ruling out the possibility of a Wii port, Capcom's Keiji Inafune is still pretty non-committal on the whole thing:
Of course [a Wii version of Okami is] something that I've personally thought about, but it's easier said than done. It's a cliché, but it's not just saying, "Okay, let's port it over here." There's technology, controls and then people to make the game, whether it's scheduling or knowing the hardware you want to take it to. It's not out of the realm of possibility, but we don't have any plans for it right now, and nothing to comment on.Not a total write-off, then. But not exactly encouraging, either. Shame. Game that beautiful almost deserves a widescreen version.
