Geoff Keighley sits down with David Jaffe for an interesting one-on-one in Game Head's most recent Bonus Round. As usual, Keighley manages to get his interviewee out of his shell and really get into some of the things that matter to him.
For instance, Jaffe talks a bit about the perception that some developers are too humble or not humble enough. His reaction:
A lot of the people who hate me like a lot of the Japanese developers.... I don't ask them this but you read into it and they're like 'Oh, they're very humble. It's like fuck you, man! Why do I have to be humble to you. I don't come out and say I'm a great developer. But do I not earn the right as a fucking human being to have an opinion about something. It's like fuck you up your ass. I can't stand that mentality that you should be all cow-tailing and be like Oh, thank you, thank you, fuck you man.
But how do you really feel Jaffe?
It's a great conversation, the best thing you can say about an interview, I think. Most importantly, you get some amazing insight into what makes the grand designer tick.
