French DSliteblog takes a break from its regular DS postings to bring word that retailer Yamada Denki in south Osaka has sold out of the limited edition ¥34,800 (US $302) bundle. The tag on the glass case says "kanbai shimashita," and that means SOLD OUT as of yesterday. (The bundle went on sale November 1.) Besides the console, the pack also includes copies of Forza Motorsport 2 and Viva Piñata. A slight, slight, slight glimmer of hope for Micrsoft's chances in The Land of the Rising Sun. First: Yes, 7-Eleven in Japan sells video game consoles. Onward! This December, Lost Odyssey is getting its December 6th Japanese release, and the convenience store is offering this Lost Odyssey. Reservations will be accepted until December 4th for the &39,880 (US $346) bundle that includes an Xbox 360, 20GB HDD, wireless controller, Forza 2, Viva Piñata and Lost Odyssey. Microsoft Japan just shot us an press release announcing that the Xbox 360 would be getting a price cut. Starting November 1st, the 20GB bundle, which originally listed at ¥39,795 (US $346), will retail for ¥34,800 ($302). Likewise, the ¥29,800 ($259) Core System will sell for ¥27,800 ($241). A new, limited-edition 20GB "Value Pack" with Forza Motorsport 2 and Viva Piñata will also go on sale. It will retail for ¥34,800 and not include an HDMI cable. Click to viewYesterday I got an email from a fellow who said he had found an image of a holiday bundle for the 360 and as there wasn't much more information available, I put on my Sherlock Holmes hat and got to work. After some rummaging about, I was able to turn up not only the Elite Bundle, but one for the Pro system as well marked as eventually being available in the US. The bundle will include the system and it's accessories plus two games, Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. These images were discovered on a website Microsoft uses to market their products and while there was no pricing information available, the Elite image was clearly marked as "Xbox 360 Elite Holiday Value Bundle." Judging by the name, one can assume that this will be the Xbox's bundles available for the upcoming Thanksgiving/Christmas shopping season. Unless of course they are saving it for Flag Day, which means we won't see it till spring of next year. More »

Customized Forza 2 paint jobs are ground we've covered before, but ground worth covering again. Reader Jeffrey Thomas sent us a link to his delightfully nerdy page "If Tinkerball Could Drive," which features customized Disney cars. As Kotakuite Jmel explains: "The forza2 paint system is all done using vector shapes. It is a layer system with over 4000 layers possible, allowing you to fit together shapes of the same color to make new shapes." That means creating this kind of paint jobs is HARD. The Forza 2 website has been updated with the final batch of top-end racing machines, completing list of rides available for the wildly ambitious racing sim. The grand total is 310 cars, from Acuras to Volvos and just about everything in-between, including 7 that are either pre-order bonuses, collectors edition extras, or the special Unicorn cards that will only be available in the in-game auction house using in-game credits, with no buyout. Forza 2 was on display for the first time at TGS, and what they had to show was looking very worthy of following up its hugely successful predecessor. Planning for the sequel started even before the launch of the original, and the game is now looking to make it out in the first quarter of 2007, after a delay that was deemed necessary in order to release a game that they'd be happy with.
