Hatsune Miku, the popular star of Yamaha's Vocaloid, doesn't only appear in video games. Japanese politicians also use her to improve election chances. Miku is virtual, but has very real fans. One of them pocketed a Hatsune Miku plastic figurine, which ended in fists flying. More »

This is a Kotaku first, I believe. We've featured cosplaying tons on Kotaku. Ditto for figurines. But, we've never covered people cosplaying with figurines that are cosplaying. Here, cosplayer Usagi Tsukimiya poses with a Hobby Wave Haruhi Suzumiya bunny figure. Even though Tsukimiya was a Hobby Wave booth companion at the recent Wonder Festival in Japan, something about this photo shoot seems oddly profound. A cosplayer posing as a figurine character in cosplay? Damn, that's deep.

This is shocking. So so shocking. It's so shocking and TOTALLY NOT SAFE FOR WORK that we're putting the gallery after the jump, and the pics in the gallery have been censored by the site that originally posted them. Well, it's not that shocking, but it's certainly NSFW! Japanese figure-centric site Moeyo.com has a review of SEGA Prize Dead or Alive Kasumi figure designed by figurine sculptor Shunya Yamashita. Moeyo takes the regular Kasumi figurine and removes her plastic clothes. For those who have never seen a Moeyo review, be warned. They embarrass her. Horribly.

The twice-a-year Wonder Festival is Japan's biggest figure-selling bonanza with over a thousand dealers taking part. The event recently wrapped up in Tokyo on the 12th. The next one will be in Osaka this winter. Here's what makes it so damn cool: All fan-made kits are given a one day license by copyright holders via the Wonder Festival Executive Committe. Meaning? Sellers can put their work on the market without fear of breaking the law. More »

Back in May, Konami dangled a Beatmania carrot rope, telling fans that if 2,500 pre-orders were received by June 17th for character Iroha Umegiri figurine, the piece would go into production. If not, well. When first announced, there wasn't even a resin sample or character model. Since then, the above figure has surfaced. More »

We've opened up the naughty SNK figurine flood gates! Earlier McWhertor posted this Mai sculpt, and I now I bring you Tsunami from upcoming DS title Denshi Maid Techou: Koi no Iroha. In the game, players raise Iroha, the thong-wearing maid character from Samurai Spirits. She manages your schedule, and thus, the game also doubles as scheduling software. Those SNK people sure are clever! This 16cm figurine goes on sale in Japan this July and books at around US $35. Not sure when the actual game goes on sale, so I'll just wait patiently for the nerd riots. Brian Ashcraft More »

Just because Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 didn't exactly set the world on fire, doesn't mean its game goods can't. (And some will argue that the series is now produced to sell certain segments of the population life-sized character pillows.) This year, DOAX2 gets a Kasumi beach resort statue, which doesn't really look like its in-game counterpart. I mean, look at those thin ankles! Kasumi has chunky ankles!! And those jubblies, Kasumi has — er... Yup, the fake plastic part, they got that right. Brian Ashcraft More »

Here it is dear reader, the only official Samus Aran figure ever produced! This was made back in 2003 by Joy Ride Studios, selling for around US $10. She has 12 articulated points; however, some, such as her shoulders, are restricted by her armor. The toy did include an unmasked Samus head! Though, we'd really prefer if this Samus kept her helmet on. Brian Ashcraft More »

The moniker "Comic-con" is slightly deceptive. We all know the convention is geared towards comic book geeks, but there are those occasional sprinkles for game nerds like us. Take this super cool Samus sculpture that was on display, for example. Any one that saw game-related goodness, do sent it along. We'd love to see it. Brian Ashcraft <a href="http://kotaku.com/189280/got-any-comic+con-pics-share-you-hoarding-bastards" title="Click here to read more about Got Any Comic-Con Pics?
