Consider how much work went into shipping FIFA 08. As part of his keynote address at DICE, EA boss John Riccitiello told us just how many versions of the game they got out the door. Now, for a game like Mass Effect, you ship 5,6 versions, or SKUs: US, PAL (with a few different European versions), Japanese and Asian editions. If it's a dual-platform game like, say, Skate, you can expect to ship double that. FIFA 08? It shipped across an absolutely ridiculous 94 SKUs. Which, I guess, is what happens when you release a game in 20 languages across 16 countries on seven platforms. Nintendo, you could learn a thing or two about that kinda localisation effort. More »

The shots, seemingly taken at the bottom of a pool or possibly through a jar a Vaseline, show the new 40GB model promoted at a price €150 less than the current 60GB configuration and seem to originate from the Tekno Consolas forums. The 702MB demo is now available in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and the United States. Good thing there aren't any soccer fans in Europe, huh? They can wait a bit then, right Larry?
EA has told me this demo is coming to Europe 'very soon'. The moment it is released in Europe I will make a post. I don't know the exact date.

It's getting awfully close to FIFA 08 time, and EA has gone ahead and dropped the soundtrack list for it's annual footie outing. This year the game will feature tracks from 50 artists from 27 different countries, including Algeria, Ethiopia, and Ghana. Looking over the list, which is posted in its entirety after the jump, I don't recognize a single song or artist, which is just all sorts of pathetic I'm sure. I only know that Wayne Rooney, pictured above with UK band The Hoosiers because I looked him up on Google. I can't wait for the comments section to fill up with, "WTF Fahey!? You haven't heard Cheb i Sebbah's Toura Toura: Nav Deep Remix? What the hell is wrong with you?" More »

EA has unveiled Be A Pro: Online Team Play for FIFA 08. An extension of FIFA's Be A Pro feature that lets you play as a single member of a soccer team throughout the course of a game, Online Team Play will let five players supported by AI teammates go head to head against another five via Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network.
"At EA SPORTS our dream is to create a full 11 versus 11 online gameplay experience in which each user will have a set position during the match and train specifically for that position," said Joe Booth, producer of FIFA Soccer 08. "Be A Pro is the first step in this direction, and now, with the ability to deliver five versus five online gameplay as free downloadable content, we are moving even closer towards the realization of this dream."
The special mode will be released six to eight weeks after the game ships to stores, and if everything goes smoothly I just might have to buy my first ever soccer title. More »

The game will feature a special mode titled Footii Party with Ronaldinho—the Brazilian international soccer star who has lent his Mii-like image to the game—allows players to import their Mii likeness and compete in a series of "unique party games." Sure, I know those party games are wearing on you, but the core soccer game was pretty fun, from what I've played. More »
