GameDaily writes today that Kim Kardashian, famous for some reason that I'm unaware of other than having sex on the internet, will join the line-up of "celebrity" boxers in FaceBreaker. GameDaily says she's a "TV personality", if that clears up anything for you. She's also listed as being a "celebutant" which, I'll assume, means she's famous by design. More »

The demo for Madden NFL 09 is up on Xbox Live, with it's presence on the PlayStation store imminent. It's 1.08 GB of pure football power, crafted lovingly the most skilled football artisans and doused with just enough sweaty locker room smell to make you nostalgic without making you nauseous. I've already started getting my own particular brand of football fever, having already purchased, played, and traded in NCAA to prepare for my impeding purchase, playing, and trading of Madden NFL 09. Well this certainly gets rid of any notion I might have had that EA's Facebreaker would just be a reskinning Fight Night. Those are definitely not Fight Night moves that little glamor goth Kiriko is pulling off in this clip. Hell, those aren't even boxing moves. It looks like they've created a 3D fighting game with a ring around it. Not quite sure how I feel about that. It certainly looks like fun, but with Soul Calibur 4 on the way I'm not sure I'm going to need another fighting game any time soon. More »

The post-hardcore band will feature big in EA's upcoming cartoony boxing game, including three brand-new songs to the soundtrack as well as actually appearing as characters within the game. Cross-promotion-wise, the band will be featuring the game at 45 shows during their spring and summer concert tour, featuring clips from the game projected on giant screens, with band members pulling someone out of the audience to demo the game before each show. EA will also be on the scene with their FaceBreaker band bus to make sure you get the whole cross-promoting concept. FFTL will also be releasing a series of 10 viral music videos on the internet laced with FaceBreaker footage. By the time this is all over we will forever associate the band with getting punched in the face by a large man with over exaggerated features. More »

The game is called Facebreaker, and after just one screen and a press release, I'm seriously interested. As Fahey mentioned earlier, EA games have gotten so simulation oriented that it can take the fun away from the more casual sports fan. At least rent a copy of it if you can find it to prepare yourself for EA's latest sports franchise, Facebreaker. It's a return to the more arcadey days of the boxing genre in development for the Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360 - and it's got our old friend Peter Moore ready to kick some serious ass.

I have to agree...EA Sports was sort of lacking in the approachable fun department, and nothing says approachable fun like a bunch of regional sterotypes pummeling each other with real-time facial deformation. A Latin lover named Romeo and a Russian demolitions expert named Molotov? Why not a British coal miner named Limey, or a French baker named Croissant? The possibilities are endless!
