DSi Launching In Australia Before The US

While the DSi will be released in the US on April 5, it'll be released a few days earlier in Australia, on April 2. There a catch? Yup. It's a bit more expensive.

Nintendo Australia let us know this morning that, along with the early release date, the console will cost AUD$300, which in February 2009 money works out to be a pinch over USD$190 (though locals will be outraged to remember this is over $100 more than the DS Lite currently goes for). Nothing out of the ordinary for Australian consumers, sure, but those from elsewhere looking at a potential import (because there are bound to be some for whom three days is an eternity) should keep that in mind.

As for colours, there's no blue DSi for the antipodes; instead, it'll just be the same black & white options we've seen in Japan.
