Not just a brand of cat food, The Good Life is Deadly Premonition creator Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro’s upcoming mystery slice-of-life cat role-playing game. It will be the debut game of White Owls, Swery’s new studio.
The Good Life is set in rural England’s “Rainy Woods,” where a New York photographer named Naomi is struggling to pay off her debts. The town, it turns out, is populated by eerily happy residents who turn into cats at night.
The game’s description continues: “The townspeople aren’t the only ones who get to roam around at night as a cat—Naomi does too! Once the sun sets, you’ll get to explore Rainy Woods and collect clues and important items connected to the events of the story. The town becomes a very different place at night, as certain secret paths, rooftops, and attics can only be accessed by cats.”
Swery says that The Good Life will inherit the “spirit” of Deadly Premonition, but with “daily life RPG” gameplay. A funding campaign for the game launches on September 2nd.
