Though Portal and BioShock were largely the critical favorites among last year's crop of titles, earning numerous industry awards apiece, the Writer's Guild of America decided to bestow its newly-created Videogame Writing Award on Dead Head Fred. Nothing against that title, but many game fans were surprised that many other more obvious candidates didn't even make the list of nominees. More »

Dead Head Fred has walked away with the first ever WGA (Wrter's Guild of America) Videogame Writing Award. While skeptics like me worry that this award might just be a WGA maneuver to eventually get their hands in the small pockets of video game writers, it's positive to see the WGA recognizing some of the excellent, overlooked writing in video games. More »

Dead Head Fred's music is one of the highlights of the PSP title. Composed by Rod Abernathy and Jason Graves at Rednote audio, the score did an excellent job of capturing the atmosphere of Fred's alternative universe 1940's noir atmosphere. Well now Rednote and Lakeshore records are giving you an opportunity to capture the score for yourself, as the soundtrack to the game goes up on Apple's iTunes service today. The fifteen tracks represent over forty minutes of music, with styles ranging from spooky jazz to old-time country complete with banjo goodness. It really is an excellent collection of music. Even if you've never played the game I would recommended plugging Dead Head Fred into your iTunes search and listening to the previews of the tracks. Beautiful work. More »

The product announcements just keep flowing like delicious wine, the kind that calm our shakes, as D3Publisher of America announces its license-rich line up of software on hand at E3 2007. While fare like Naruto and Ben 10, both Cartoon Network properties are sure to sell with ease based on their following, some original efforts like Dark Sector, Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire and Dead Head Fred will also make an appearance. You're right, that is a lot of Ds. If you're so inclined, make your way over to the full release after the jump, to see what D3 calls "solid." I'd say it ranges somewhere between "outta site" and "butter layin' it to the bone, jaggin' me up." <a href="http://kotaku.com/276866/d3publisher-reveals-e3-line-up-calls-it-solid" title="Click here to read more about D3Publisher Reveals E3 Line Up, Calls It "Solid"">More »

Thanks to Game Set Watch for cluing us in on the fact that Dead Head Fred for the PSP is going to be the greatest frickin' game ever. It looks a lot like Grim Fandango meets Dead Alive with the gameplay of Kid Chameleon. More »
