@Ali-Kharazi: That is a very interesting observation.
I will gladly sacrifice a fifth of the online community if it means I am not playing with people coming off of Halo. I believe it was on here that someone said something along the lines of: "[Halo 3 is] one of the best games with the crappiest people playing it." Addimtibly, Counter Strike is a close second. #left4dead2
@Tre_Green: Don't you dare to talk sense to me when I'm ranting on my hangover morning. : P
Bue yeah... mm... I guess it's just that people shouldn't expect to see any cinematics or lipsyncing even as tools are available, modders don't have resources for such things. #dragonageorigins
@slingblade123: Seriously? What exactly makes your grade of good games?
Borderlands has some fine artwork and is a fun romp through a mad max type world with guns galore.
Sure it aint rocket science but id like to know just what is a good game to you?..Cause one things for sure, the movie Slingblade was retarded.. #twitter
I had no intent to post on this Gawker site today, but meh... Screw it.
The "mom and pop" stores, as you like to put it, are really more or less independently owned stores; some with only one owner for one store, others with one (or more owners) for a small chain of stores.
The term "mom and pop" in this case, is inaccurate, since it doesn't properly nor correctly give the reader of just how many stores not owned by either a "Big Box Corporation" or C|Net are out there in the Northeast and Midwest regions (Ohio is a Midwest state, by the way.)
Regardless, out in the Midwest and Northeastern regions, GameStop will need any advantage they can get against the independent stores, since they tend to offer much lower prices, more selection (in some cases), fair prices on rare titles, an extensive library for classic gaming and the ability to reasonably haggle your own price with the management/ownership
Gamestop, when you think about it, is outmatched when the consumer knows where the better deal is. I still see it daily when I go to shop, and the Gamestop might have one or two people in there, with a parent possibly looking for Christmas ideas.
The indie shops, on the other hand, get dozens of them.
And the ONLY reason WHY they don't get more coverage on here? Mainly because either the writers/editors here don't know a whole hell of a lot about them or they didn't know their significance.
Either excuse is a poor one.
Having said that, how about writing an article about the indie gaming shops for a change?#callofdutymodernwarfare2

But I've already played the demo. Anyone who wants it should make a Japanese XBL account- it takes less than five minutes. Besides, the demo is amazing, so it's totally worth it. #bayonetta
Cutscene editor? Lipsync tools? Righty... This is for PC mod comunity, the less tools you give them the faster they are able to push their ideas out and more longevity the community has. If you expect people to actually voice act and lipsync their own cutscenes you are just dooming the projects. These are not funded stable jobs where you can tweak tiny details for years before releasing, these are modders that work on pure enthusiasm, and it rarely lasts years. Once it starts to fade, the project simply dies and never gets released. Back at the Quake day everyone could mod, things were so simple that one man team could push full conversion out, nowdays you need to be almost professional. #dragonageorigins
@noelveig: Gearbox's issue with Steam is about fairness. Granted, Valve and Gearbox are essentially competitors on the PC market, but the only one with a digital distribution service set up is Valve. The issue they're worried about is whether Valve will treat Gearbox's IP fairly on the distribution system or not.
While it seems trivial, the fact of the matter is that Valve is a private company and not a publicly traded one. This means that there's no real way to enforce a check against the company executives the way you normally would with a publicly traded company. For example, if you own 1% of Microsoft's stocks, you have the right to attend its shareholder meeting and say straight to Ballmer/Gate's face how much of an idiot you believe them to be and they will actually listen mostly because they have to. With Valve, since there aren't any stockholder meetings, you can't go up to Newell's face to say that he's a fatso mostly because there aren't any stocks for you to own in the first place. Remember, these are examples; extreme examples, but ones that illustrate the difference between what you can do to a publicly traded firm with one that isn't publicly traded.
What it boils down to is leverage; rather, the ability to leverage your interests against Valve.
What Gearbox might be doing is to provoke Valve into doing something stupid so that they can highlight/appeal it to the FTC or something and sic an anti-monopoly suit against Valve in order to split Steam off of Valve. It's a convoluted process and many things could go wrong but it's possible to pull off. #valve
Actually, I would like an elaboration. You're suggesting a mod that involves eating (not a common idea aside from those hardcore types that want a 'realistic' experience)?
A medievel cooking adventure?
Or is this about some perverted sexual art, in which case yes I'm better off not knowing. #dragonageorigins
I think at this point it's just a tradition for gamers to rag on gamestop, I haven't had a genuinely bad experience there in a long time, And the ones I have had have all been caused by other customers, not the employees. #screengrab
It's a *pretty good* game, but there's way too little variety, the universe is really not all that interesting after a few hours in there... reminds me more of hellgate london than Diablo. #twitter
@xfelixmorganx: What is your PC spec anyway? This game is not too demanding since you can play on an old card like a Radeon 9500GT (or so someone told me). #dragonageorigins
Valve was started up by ex-Microsoft employees. It's no real surprise they've always shown a preference towards MS systems and treated everything else like dirt. #left4dead2
@Rob: Point is that the Mom-and-Pop stores broke the street date, so that's why Gamestop was also allowed to sell them. Only issue I have with this is that it should be ALL retail outlets allowed to sell it, not just one specific chain. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
