the-hypnotoad commented on Mirror's Edge In Motion Looks pretty darn slick. I also liked the way they used color to subtly show your path through the environment.

I wonder about the controls though - obviously there won't be different buttons to do all the different actions. I'd bet most of them would be keyed off some combination of 'jump' and 'action' buttons combined with a context or location-specific influence.

Basically, if the controls are up to par to support the visuals and animation then we might be in for a real treat.

Any word on multiplayer? Can you imagine a big city area with like 16 people trying to run out to a certain objective and back? That could be crazy, especially if you could disrupt people when they are balancing or hanging.

the-hypnotoad commented on Sexy New LEGO Indiana Jones Gameplay @Kenofthedead: No of course Batman has recognizable characters, but you start to run out after about 10-15 (Bats, Alfred, Robin, Catwoman, Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Harly, Mr Freeze, Scarecrow, Commissioner Gordon, Poison Ivy, Two-face, maaaybe Batgirl and Nightwing if you want to stretch it.)

But maybe I'm thinking about it wrong; maybe instead of collecting characters you'll collect utility belt items, bat vehicles and stuff to fill up the batcave (remember that giant penny, stuff like that). Plus it's not like you ever use 75% of the guys you unlock in TCS anyway.

Hell, who am I kidding, Travelers Tales has always delivered and I'm sure these games will be no exception.

the-hypnotoad commented on Sexy New LEGO Indiana Jones Gameplay I'm on the fence about this and the Batman game. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED Lego Star Wars:TCS (especially playing it through with my 6 year old). But neither of these lego properties have depth of recognizable characters, vehicles, and locations that Star Wars had to draw on.

I do hope they pull it off of course but they've got one hell of a bar to measure up to - one they created themselves.

the-hypnotoad commented on GTA IV DLC Arriving This Summer? He also went on Big O and Dukes on wjfk in DC this afternoon and addressed the error with the game freezing.

He essentially put in on PS3 owners having too much 'junk' on their hard drives. I infer from that that the game is getting around the PS3 RAM issue by doing some caching to the hard drive.

He didn't address the same problem on the 360.

He also minimized the problem, putting it on the order of 0.001% of users.

the-hypnotoad commented on Korn Debuts Haze the Song I think this summarizes every stereotype about the average 'kewld3wd' gamer - spastic 14 year old listening to butt-rock and fetishizing their over-the-top weaponry and explosions. If only there was some type of 'fuel' that existed that they could market to people that played games. Some sort of 'gamefuel' if you will. Then they'd have everything.

And yeah, Korn hasn't been cool since what, 1998?

Pay attention folks - this is what the douchbags that work in PR think about the video game playing audience.

the-hypnotoad commented on What Is Love? Wow, incredible style. The one problem with games that randomly generate everything is that it usually isn't very cohesive and the randomness makes everything less interesting, not more.

That being said, the counterweight to that could well be the user-generated component which I have to admit sounds really intriguing.

Here's hoping they pull it off!

the-hypnotoad commented on Wage An Endless War Against This Warhammer 40K MMO Info Here's hoping for more of a tactical MMO with most of the customizing and upgrading being via like talent or perk trees, and bolted on dangly/spiky bits.

As opposed to a constant item grind - "Oh look, an [Eldritch Tome of the Whale]" and upgrading to ever more doofy and mismatched armor and weapon pieces sets every few levels.

They'd really better have their stuff together; this is one of those properties where if you don't do it right you shouldn't even bother. Kinda close doesn't fly here. Some kind of convoluted ret-con (blood elves, I'm looking at you) to allow half these races to team up versus the other half just won't fly.
