<![CDATA[Comments from muu]]> <![CDATA[Comments from muu]]> <![CDATA[muu commented on Former XNA Community Manager Airs Quality Concerns]]> I doubt a lot of people are just going to straight up DL something without a demo -- they're used to having a demo by default from XBLA, and unless they're stupid saps that buy Super Monkey Ball from the App Store without giving a second thought about trying the game out or reading reviews -- oh wait, that's me, and btw Sega could I have my 10 bucks back please -- people are still going to be extremely cautious about buying something just cause it looks good from a SS.

If it's anything like Youtube the brunt of downloads will be coming from word-of-mouth anyway, and not as much from whatever advertising the XNA community decides to pull off. Review scores and such might end up being off, but I think in most cases you'll still be able to discern between a dog and an actual game by looking at purchase rates and such.

<![CDATA[muu commented on iDOLM@STER For PSP Announced]]> I'm willing to bet that they'll release a Miki + Kotori pack as well, with a slightly higher price tag. Sure, they said they'll never put her on the stage but that doesn't mean they can't make a 15years-ago flashback stage...

]]>
<![CDATA[muu commented on More Shots Of The Rumored PSP-3000]]> @Xeros606: They aren't stupid, they're not going to add features that make games unplayable on the consoles already on the market... or so I hope.

Still waiting on that GT Portable I bought this thing for. What's it been now, 3 years?

<![CDATA[muu commented on Going For the Mass Market: Good News or Bad?]]> "Nintendo's problem has always been that it can make and sell its own 'first party' software in large numbers, but third party developers struggle to make a profit on a Nintendo platform."

Does "always" only refer to the reigning period of the Playstation? I'm sure most of us can name quite a few Nintendo/SNES games not made by Nintendo that were wild, major hits.

<![CDATA[muu commented on Sony To Unveil "Next Generation" SingStar At Leipzig?]]> @RogueSquid: SCE and the other parts of Sony just song seem to get along very well. Hell, the Bravia line is going as far as adopting amazons video service into its system with plans to integrate it in the next generation. If this was a concerted effort you'd think that theyWould integrae the PSN video store or something like that.

<![CDATA[muu commented on Is Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 Coming To Japan? "Ask Them"]]> There's no reason for Square to not make a Japanese 360 release, what with all the RPGs they're throwing at it now. Remember that a lot of those rumored 'internat only' 360 ports ended up going to Japan as well...

Famitsu has been notoriously PS-pushy, and I wouldnt be surprised in the slightest bit if this was just something to make them fall for the bait and actually keep releasing FF13 articles. Titles like Vesperia have gotten considerably less coverage ever since they announced the game's not going to be a PS3 exclusive.

<![CDATA[muu commented on Liveblogging Microsoft e3 2008 Press Conference]]> I was going to say that this proprietary shit is going to screw with my iPod,but lo and behold, there's an iPod option. Too bad I go back to the Internet disabled always loud as hell jobsite in a few minutes...

Hope I get a break when they start the squeenix presser.

<![CDATA[muu commented on Visited E3 Hall... In Intensive Care]]> All it did was put a good number of nice-looking women out of a potential job. Those of us that aren't in the vicinity, or those that don't have the free time to make it even if they are in the area, couldn't appreciate them vixens anyway.

But if I was in the area... and didn't have a job tethering me...

]]>
<![CDATA[muu commented on The Meaning of Ninjy]]> @AstrayPenguin: and get bashed for having horrid localizations? Sure thing! Direct translations are leaps and bounds easier to do than an actual thoughtful localization, though there are many reasons not to do it aside from sounding robotic:

* Grammatical discrepancies between languages. Just keep going down the line with whatever they're saying and converting it to another language, and you'll end up with a hodgepodge of dialogue and text. Editing this is necessary (and most likely does occur), but it'll prevent a game from being directly translated.

* Culture-specific terms. If a company translated a certain dialogue to, say, "would you like some 'bubuzuke'?" would you or anyone else not versed in Kyoto's workaround to letting people know they're not welcome understand the dialogue? Probably not, and that line would have to be modified somehow (and the lines around it) to make everything fit.

<![CDATA[muu commented on Xbox 360 Price Drop Already In Effect At Target Stores?]]> Why wait? You can always get the price matched in most of these stores, and the bigger chains let you return that shit within 90days if they don't want to play that game either.

@ObZen: It hasn't been a significant problem for the newer batch with HDMI and all, despite what the scary scary internet fudzillas would like to tell you.

<![CDATA[muu commented on Sony's Plan Is Not To Reduce The PS3's Price]]> Some of you seem to have some mistaken notions about Sony:

* Games are only one of Sony's business ventures. The overall games business for Sony saw huge losses last yr, but their profits were at a record high. Why? Because they're an electronics company first and foremost.

* Sony promised to shareholders that they WILL turn a profit this year. Since they already admitted (in a previous shareholder meeting) that they are STILL selling PS3s at a loss, and plan to for the forseeable future (or at least this fiscal year), decreased prices mean more losses that they have to cover up with game title sales. Fund managers were really after SCE's plans on how they are going to turn a profit this year on the last few meetings, save the last meeting when they announced PS Life among others -- don't know whether that's because they were satisfied with the plans to turn a profit from 'non-game' sectors or just gave up on the idea. With long-time viability in question now that Nintendo's top dog again, it's questionable whether they'll take kindly to another year's worth of loss.

<![CDATA[muu commented on Konami Suing Harmonix Over Rock Band]]> @Silent Predator: it's very possible that there were negotiations behind the scenes that went awry, resulting in this mess. It's not like they suddenly woke up to the fact that the franchise is selling like crazy.

<![CDATA[muu commented on Square Enix's E3 Line Up - Where Is Final Fantasy XIII?]]> Ps3 exclusives: ps3 only!! Do not make any mention of a possible multiplat!!
360 exclusives: timed exclusive LOL!

This concept just boggles my mind. Exclusives for both sides have gone multiplat in the past, from forgettables like gundam musou to high rated titles like bioshock. Surely theres the chance that other titles will make the switch as well, but for now I think the future is riding a lot on performance of the first ports coming to the ps3 -- if eternal sonata ps3 sells well the jrpg scene for the console will probably improve significantly. Why you ask? Because it'll show that relatively new ip can sell on the ps3, and that people are willing to buy hugely delayed games that are already in the bargain bin for the competing console.

<![CDATA[muu commented on ANOTHER Tales Game Coming, This Time For The Wii]]> @fusilero: the article was speculating without any evidence that something may come out in the presser. I'm sure bash is holding it off for another article (or to prevent another flame war) but they showed the tales roadmap which left absolutely no mention of the ps3. Not to say it won't happen, but as far as the press event goes you can pretty much officially think of that rumor as dead until the next set of rumors.

]]>
<![CDATA[muu commented on E3: Dud or a Blast?]]> What happened to Square Enix's presser time? Did it get absorbed into MS's presser (which would obviously mean something's happening along w/ MS), does the initial time of 12:30 still stand or is there a new time that it's being held?

<![CDATA[muu commented on iDOLMASTER Tickets Are Crazy Expensive]]> Oh, and the article is incorrect -- the voice actress for Yukiho (short straight-haired girl with a timid mind and the tendency to dig a hole to cry in), Yurisii, won't be showing up.

<![CDATA[muu commented on iDOLMASTER Tickets Are Crazy Expensive]]> @Fox: If he was he'd know that these inflated prices dip down severely a week before the showing. They're doing this at a 5000+ people capacity hall consisting of 3 floors, and right now for some reason even the shittiest of seats are fetching high prices -- something that'll change once it becomes days away and people with unsold crap seats start getting desparate.

The seats fetching these insane prices right now are only the front row seats, btw. I got help from a buddy to get some tickets, we're on the front end of the second floor which means it'll be a little far away but will actually have a better view than most people on the 1st floor.

]]>
<![CDATA[muu commented on Dyack vs. NeoGAF, Part II]]> I don't bother going to GAF since half the news shit they post seem to be just imports from 2ch Ghard forums anyway, but assuming that's the case it makes sense that there's some sort of intelligence behind the crap. Just as people like to believe there's only lies and bullshit in 2ch (NG a few people on the rowdy boards and you can have a very thoughtful discussion w/o the cumbersomeness of your name attached; think a little and you can tell the fakes from the truth), this guy's probably feeling the same about GAF, as he can't comprehend it, can't get past the blitz of kids making strange GIF files with his face on it, etc.

If people start making honest death threats or something serious of that sort, it may be time to start locking people up, but I'm not quite sure anything of that sort will come out on a forum where user names are visibile and their user history apparent.

]]>
<![CDATA[muu commented on Two More Tales Games Coming, Both For Handhelds]]> @Sailorcancer: You mean the one where Famitsu said "we've heard nothing of a PS3 Tales coming but we sure hope there is one" and put up a big question mark on a frame labeled as PS3? Maybe it's because it's not based on any substantial rumor/fact at all.

]]>
<![CDATA[muu commented on Gundam Doubles Xbox 360 Sales In Japan As PSP Holds Strong In First]]> The best part about this is that Operation Troy is an absolutely horrid Gundam game (as with most Gundam games). There's a demo up on Japanese Live (I guess most of you guys cant try it since it supposedly requires a Live Gold in that region to DL), and it's a respawn rape-fest with the federation side having a huge advantage thanks to insta-hit beam rifles. The product is even worse, with federation side getting the Gundam from the 08th MS series as its second MS, with speeds doubling (or more) that of the GM/Zaku1 and a high-damage beam rifle.

Friends who got it tell me it's an awesome game as long as it's a private match (to prevent ranked matchers going all out to respawn kill the other team once the tide turns over) though. I mean, the game might suck but it's still a 5on5 Gundam match that doesn't cost 500 yen per play and a few hours wait between each game (apparently that's how popular the arcade 4-16player gundam game Senjou no Kizuna is). Kinda pisses me off that I'm stuck at a job site and unable to pick up packages; if I could I'd have gotten the game myself to revel in the shittiness.

<![CDATA[muu commented on Best Buy Ad Shows Xbox 360 Price Drop]]> @oskarkeo: I wouldn't want to buy a BT headset for the Xbox, but you do realize that the same thing can be said for all consoles this generation, right?

You may be returning that $50 by the time you start buying games, but you're still saving 50 bucks. Or does the $249 price point of the Wii not matter because you have to buy extra remotes and chucks for multiplayer before it becomes a useful device? Is the $399 price point of a PS3 ridiculous because it doesn't pack in a vibrating controller?

]]>
<![CDATA[muu commented on Aussie 360 Price Cut Official, Now Cheaper Than Wii]]> @Mr.Sad: your RRoD helps feed the hungry mouths of the children of tech support workers.
