<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on Far Cry 2: No Girls Allowed]]> @Leepox: I know that this comment was meant as a joke, but it is actually an extremely valid point. Sound takes up more on a disc than some people think.

]]>
<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on Far Cry 2: No Girls Allowed]]> Some of you really don't get it. It's not a matter of forethought or anything like that, its really a matter of time and budget issues. You are being very narrow-sighted in your thinking of how much it would effect the entire game. Not only does it add THREE new full sets of dialogue, but it also DOUBLES the dialogue for all of the characters in the game.

Think of it this way, Mass Effect has 20,000 lines of dialogue. This includes bark dialogue (phrases characters say in combat), all the NPCs, and both a male and female character reading the same lines since you can choose ONE male or ONE female. Far Cry 2 is not a RPG, but when you factor in having nine characters, the dialogue already has to be pushing the 10,000 line mark, probably more. You'd have to add the lines for the females, double them, then double the lines for everyone else in order to make it work and not end up sounding stupid.

]]>
<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on Far Cry 2: No Girls Allowed]]> "Wow, that's not going to go over well."

Yeah, because that hurt so many games.

]]>
<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on Extended Audio Interview with Niko Bellic's Voice Actor]]> @Candlejack: Because the games industry isn't unionized like the film industry is. If voice actors were to start getting residual checks from game sales, the engineers should too, as should the artists and designers, because honestly they are way more important than the voice actor ever was and I can guarantee you that most of them would be very happy to just make $100k a year in their job.

]]>
<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on Ghostbusters Gameplay: Don't Cross the Streams]]> @liveinabin: Glad you are able to make all those assessments based off of a video. I am also happy to know that you are the authority on the only way to make plot-driven games.

<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on EA Versus Take-Two: How The Takeover Works]]> @nxp3: They aren't threatened by Take2. They want to own them because they want the money the franchise brings in. EA is far less likely now (which has kinda been proven with Bioware) to buy a company and had over the franchise to another team. They are not just going to dissolve teams and put stuff elsewhere. They are going to keep the people where they are, doing what they do.

I love how people say that this is bad for gamers, but I don't see how development houses having MORE MONEY with which to make games is a bad thing for any gamer. Not just speaking of the gamers, but a company like EA has much more money to put behind marketing campaigns, which for developers means more copies sold.

As long as EA doesn't mess with GTAIV's release date, I'm cool.

]]>
<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on EA Versus Take-Two: How The Takeover Works]]> The big question I have is this, and it'll take someone with some knowledge of takeovers to answer.

Even if EA does get the requisite 51% share holding, does their owning of the company go into immediate effect? Aren't there things that need to be approved by the FCC and such before it can be official?

I guess my big question is, could they really delay GTAIV less than two weeks from its release? :p

]]>
<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on 'Why Do Good People Make Bad Games?']]> I don't get what the GTA picture has to do with the article. It isn't a bad game in the sense that the article is talking about "bad games."

]]>
<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on Grand Theft Childhood: In Depth]]> OMG, all you people that are outraged about the book really, REALLY need to get some reading comprehension skills, actually have a little less ADD, and go AND READ WHAT CONCLUSIONS THEIR RESEARCH ACTUALLY CAME UP WITH. If you read any of the many articles linked to in this post alone, you'd learn they aren't against the game industry at all in their findings and even mention that you people are mentioning about other mediums having similar effects when tests are run. Sheesh.

I know everyone likes to get on their high horse about issues like these, but lets not go attacking something that actually presents their findings in a POSITIVE light for games.

]]>
<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on Grand Theft Childhood: In Depth]]> @choirovwolves: Way to read buddy. Way to read. They actually come down in favor of the games industry, which it even states in the Kotaku article. Odds are you don't even read.

]]>
<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on WoW MMOvie Featuring Indiana Pwns]]> Eh, the dialogue kinda sucked, other than Harnold. The writing in Myndflame's Illegal Danish and even Zinwrath stuff is vastly superior. This isn't to say it is spectacular itself, but in comparison to this.

]]>
<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on Gary Gygax, Co-Creator Of D&D, Dead At 69]]> People probably do not realize just how big an impact he has had on all facets of gaming due to the creation of D&D. Think of all the current games that have even the slightest of RPG systems, like CoD4, etc. All this stuff has evolved from RPG stuff that was developed by him back in the early 70's.

]]>
<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on Future Rock Band DLC Found In Game File?]]> @RedSonSuperDave:
I'd say for you to check your facts. The real fact of the matter is that I know a thing or two about development and Harmonix likely built an index of songs they already knew they had licensed and put that in the game. In order to change the index file for a game, you have to do a title update, which costs money and you only have so much space to use for them according to TCR's from Microsoft. So the index file that shipped with the game has reference to songs they knew they'd have the ability to release since they'd already licensed them. If the actual songs were on the disc don't you think the guy that found all this would have said as much as well?

<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on Assassin's Creed Multiplayer Bug]]> I didn't watch the vids as I had this happen to me. The fix is easy as turning off your box, unplugging ANYTHING that could be considered a second controller (guitar, rock band pieces, etc.), and turning the game back on. I was annoyed for about half an hour until I figured this out. Was pretty amusing at first though.

<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on Ubisoft Threatens Something Awful Over Jade Comic]]> Wow, the amount of people saying that the comic is fine or funny or whatever seriously make me scared about who will be running the country in the future.

Seriously, if it is okay and it is freedom of speech, why don't you people saying its fine post links to your myspace, facebook, whatever where pictures of you are available so people here can photoshop your head to be slobbing someone's knob. You'd be okay with that, right? It's freedom of speech! It's satire! It's teh internets dammit!

<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on Eye of Judgement Online Play]]> @Bleentastic: The way it works online is if you want to play, you have to register a deck online and it automatically draws cards from the deck you have registered for you. <![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on BioShock PC - You Only Install Twice (Updated)]]> @Omen:

Have you ever read the EULA of any piece of software you have purchased? You don't own that game or program at all. All you have purchased is a license to use the software. This has been part of most if not all standard EULA's since the late 1990's. If you don't believe me, go read a few.

Anyways, this has nothing to do with that at all. When you install the game, it hits an authentication server. You can hit that server twice to activate your product. You can uninstall the product, which also hits the authentication server and gives you back the ability to install it.

On top of this, if you are not able to uninstall, you can just call and get an unlock code from them that allows you to install the game.

I fail to see the issue.

]]>
<![CDATA[hotcoffeeburns commented on BioShock PC - You Only Install Twice (Updated)]]> @brent_w: No, they don't lose them. They just have to call to get an unlock code.

By the way, bravo to all you people with the reading comprehension skills of a untrained baboon that have managed to either not get or conveniently overlook the posts explaining and showing that, once again, most people are whining and complaining about something that is nothing.
