I'm in a class right now and they stress how important it is to take time out for yourself and enjoy something that YOU want to do. They suggest at least once a week doing something that makes you happy and from what I've learned so far, it is a very good suggestion.

Adam In Texas commented on The Games My Mother Played I was born in '79 but we still have the Sears Video Pinball my parents played when they were younger. Adam In Texas commented on Mysterious Tag Virtuoso Creates Mario Homage @Krondonian: Hahah, sounds like you live around me.

OK, I seriously doubt you live around me but for those familiar with the Hudson Oaks/Weatherford/Mineral Wells area you might have seen that huge rock on 180 that the country folk use for tagging. It is total amateur hour and with the "XXX woz ere 08'" things. I think people can even pay to paint it. Recently it had a small dinosaur-like thing on it that almost looked like an attempt at the Puzzle Bobble character but that is the closest thing to a video game reference I've seen.

Adam In Texas commented on Battle of the Bands Review: Musical Smackdown Haha, I'm one of those people that has been playing the music/rhythm games for a long time. Those interested might want to hunt down copies of "Bust a Move/Groove" or "Bust a Move 2" for the Playstation. They were fighting/music games more in the style of DDR with the controller instead of actually playing the music though. They are pretty fun to play through. Here are a few links to youtube videos of both:

Any music-centric games have always been a guilty pleasure of mine. I've got the Taiko No Tatsujin Drum on the shelf along with the Beatmania IIDX controller, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, etc. It has come up in conversation back in the past on Kotaku but I imported a DDR 3rd Mix from Korea way back in the day. A year or so later I imported a Beatmania IIDX machine from Hong Kong and put them into an arcade in small town Texas. It was culture shock for the cowboys at the time (DDR was still on the 1st Mix in the USA) but the weight conscience game players were dumping money into 3rd Mix at a record pace. I imported them mainly because I wanted to play them. I miss those days.]]>

Adam In Texas commented on Microsoft Keeps Your Repaired XBox For 4 Months, Calls You A Thief For Wanting It Back You know, when my 360 was sent back from repair after a RRoD it said it required signature but the FedEx guy forged my own signature and left it sitting in front of our home. You know, it's a weird feeling to be tracking a package online, see it arrive at your home while you are at work and then see your signature show up on the tracking information when you haven't seen the box, FedEx guy or anything. Kind of hacked me up.

Adam In Texas commented on 360 Power Supply Blamed in Strange Fire We had that huge storm here in Texas on April 17th and it did something to my 360. It will come on and boot to the dash but no light will ever show up on the console (no power, green ring) and you can plug in a wired USB guitar from rock band and play games with it. No wireless control will work at all. none will sync up. Anyone know how to fix it? Here is a link to the crazy hail from the storm.

Adam In Texas commented on Wii Fit Priced for America Family Ski (We Ski in the US) uses the balance board to shift your weight and guide your character down the slopes. It's going to be $29.95 in the US too I think. Just mentioning this as an added bonus to owning the board.

Adam In Texas commented on Wii Fit Priced for America @male roof blower: Exactly! Any gamer worth their salt should already have WAY too many peripherals!

Seriously though, I'm thinking about what we have sitting on our shelves in the media room:

Rock Band drums
RB guitar
GH guitar for 360
GH guitar for PS2
Beatmania IIDX control
Taiko no Tatsujin drum control
Ace Combat 6 flight stick
A few DDR pads
Wii Zapper

...plus the four controls for the Wii and 360. Don't forget mics and Nunchucks. A classic control for the Wii...oh and a Gamecube control, a few Nintendo DS systems, a gang of PS2 controllers and the multi-tap.

More on topic though, another feature of Wii Fit that seems cool is the channel it adds to your Wii that lets you check your weight with the board even if the game isn't loaded. How much does a good scale cost for weighing yourself at home? Is the Wii Fit board very accurate?

Adam In Texas commented on Okami Thank You Cards That GROW Does anyone know if the Nintendo Power review stuff is true? I don't have the magazine but I read that the 7.5 review of Okami on Wii (May 2008 issue) says:

"The controls just didn't make the jump to Wii as well as they should have… Okami is a work of genius,
but you should play the original [PS2] game instead of the Wii version if you can."

Can anyone verify that? It's more flamebait fodder than anything but I'm curious.

Adam In Texas commented on PSTWO FIT - No Wii DVD playback @Schoolimangooli: I think he is just saying it would be a waste of $10 for him in his position. If he is like me then he already has a PS2, PS3 and 360 that can play DVDs fine. Why would he want to spend more just to get another one that will be in the same room?

If someone out there purchased a Wii and is upset they didn't get to pay any extra for a DVD player and they need one click here for a $25 progressive scan DVD player (new) or here for a $27 player (new). It may cost you a little over $10 bucks but you won't have to worry about extra wear on your game systems if you use a dedicated DVD player.

Adam In Texas commented on Developers Rarely Account for Color-Blind Gamers Capcom needs to be careful. This imagery has a history. It has a history and you can't pretend otherwise.

I remember when I played my first same shape/different color puzzle game and I was like, "Wow, clearly no one Color-Blind worked on this game." It's funny how some people argue that it's "just a game," but also get really upset of any criticism of it. Just because I'm Color-Blind and happen to see an anti-color-blind stance hidden in this game doesn't mean you it isn't really there.
