"Wow..to think, such insanity and I missed it.
To summarize: Sophomore 'hipster' working for Variety with a penchant for knee-jerk hysterics uses IGN RSS reeds as primary sources and demonstrates aptly why we need to kick the poseurs out of games journalism.
"Unsettling?" - well that is history for you - full of inconvenient truth and disturbing fact."
"@zilo: EA does suck, for a rather long litany of reasons, most recently their forcing of DRM on Mass Effect and Spore PC - DRM not desired by the developers but mandated by the publisher, EA.
It's always been in the game journo world that the big mags - now websites - always hype the hell out of games whose publishers are paying big $$$ for advertising."
"Unfortunately I have a feeling their priorities are:
1) Piracy2) IP Protection (really, same as #1)...45) Fighting anti-gaming legislation, combatting the stereotypes thrown around by the media and social studies majors looking for the cause de jour
On 1 and 2 they have some allies I am uncomfortable with, ones with far deeper pockets, the MPAA and RIAA."
""Goons are just a bunch of uncoordinated mouth-breathers who never played any real competitive sports, and so they get their jollies with one-sided affairs against low-HP, or outnumbered opponents"
*Ahem* fofofofofofofof
I, for one, salute the new goon AoC overlords!
I'm torn between adulation (see horse kicking off cliff) and despondancy because I can't figure out how to change instances to avoid teh ebil griefers.
In all honesty there's not much difference between goons and any other group of gankers."
"It's great..leaving the structures intact leads to some odd gameplay, but it shows the promise of destructible enviornments.
Respawn time is fine - people who want Quake should stay away, there is no instant respawn."
"You can hardly compare the Holocaust or the Spanish Inquisition to 9/11 - doing so shows a severe lack of understanding of these events.
On one hand, you have a few thousand people killed by extremists.
On the other, hundreds of thousands to millions killed.
People - tasteless ones - already make fun of the quake in China, referring to Chinese craftsmanship, etc."
"From a new game started Friday:
1) Going to the middle island before being 'supposed' to not only starts the game to running verrrrry slow, it also makes 6 stars instantly appear - though I assume this was by design.
2) I walked into the Star-something cafe and everyone that I looked at would disappear, though I would still push them out of the way.
3) People sometimes spawn half-way inside the ground.
4) I got inside the wheelwell of a semi and got dragged around the city at speed without getting hurt.
5) Car duplication - sometimes the game seems to have trouble figuring out what to spawn, and it generates multiple duplicate cars."
"@PSWii60-Fanboy: There was this thing called Q&A - when your profits were on the line, strangely, game developers put more of an emphasis on it.
Now that they can release now and fix later, corporate suits demanding X as release date have even more pull.
What ever happened to 'It's done when it's ready.'?"
"@Canuckledragger: "cannot understand any rational reason why he would hallucinate that he should have any pull with Pelosi, let alone any reason to care about what happens to the dels from MI or FL."
This may be pandering to a stereotype, but I do believe it is true - Mr."
"@fecalchaos: Probably because you don't know what you're talking about.
First, I doubt the idea for this got an ok from Obama, let alone his campaign manager."
