      • Snake726 commented on GTA Blamed For French Car Fires

"Or the cause could be the white French middle class ignoring the unemployed and unwanted Muslims from old French colonies who live outside the downtown cores and have been rioting for years because of low wages and being denied certain jobs. But they're probably right, it's videogames."

      • Snake726 commented on You Won't Find Much Warren Ellis In Dead Space

"@quen: No one is arguing the importance or worth of programming -- what I meant to say was that the creative function of programming is limited in the artistic sense."

"@DukeOfPwn: Maybe I'm just reading the nuances of speech wrong, but that's the vibe I get -- thanks but no thanks Ellis."

"You mean, the same George Lucas who explained his mystic Force mumbo jumbo with an interestingly scientific but overly pragmatic genetic abnormality?"

      • Snake726 commented on You Won't Find Much Warren Ellis In Dead Space

"I think the real unfortunate thing here is that everyone expected, with Ellis attached, for him to have been involved in more than grunt work. Of course, Dead Space is the team's baby. Can't have an outsider create a story that dictates your game."

      • Snake726 commented on You Won't Find Much Warren Ellis In Dead Space

"Do many programmers also produce works like Transmetropolitan? Programmers and writers both write, and they're both creative within their formats, but there's only so much creative freedom that a code library can offer compared to a language -- don't go comparing a rendering pipeline to works of fiction. In fact, it sounds more like he accepted a job, did what he could, recommended a friend who could use the work, and went back to more important business."
