Tell you what, when you can understand the difference between communism and socialism, then come back to me and we'll see if either definition fits me.[/i]

Umm, how can I put this? A socialist worker IS a Communist. Or rather, Communism is a subtype of socialism.

I love how you think assimilating long and complicated words into your verbiose comments makes you appear intelligent. It almost discombobulates me (did you see what I did there ;))

As yarmy and several other people have pointed out, there's a lot of German blood in the royal family. It's a valid reference.

Okay now that's just twisted.

Part of you doesn't die when you see her picture in the paper 10 years after her death? After seeing her picture in the paper at least 1-30 times EVERY year since she died?

You have stronger sensibilities than I do then. I just wish they'd let her rest in peace rather than drudging her up every time they need a quick trashy tabloid article.

Wales? In England!? I'd best be careful if you ever visit our fair country, in some places that'd be considered a deadly insult.

@Galvanise_:
It doesn't really, it's still a harsh joke but if you lived here you'd be so sick and tired of Diana that you'd start to make cracks like that too. It's been just over 10 years since she died, I'd estimate that there's been more media coverage of her AFTER she died than while she was alive. That's how bad it is, even if she's dead she'll live for freaking ever in the tabloids.

Odin commented on 7 Reasons Why There Will Be A Redesigned DS @DrXym:
Actually Nintendo are only guilty in doing this in their handhelds. They've never actually repackaged any of their consoles since the NES/SNES (and these were only minor revisions that didn't offer huge improvements). The N64 and the Gamecube were never touched and I doubt they'll do anything with the Wii either.

Sony and Microsoft are actually far more guilty of doing this. It's actually even worse doing it with a console due to the higher price point. Least if a new handheld revision comes out by trading in your old one you can upgrade for a reasonable amount.

Odin commented on 7 Reasons Why There Will Be A Redesigned DS Oh some interesting things from the actual article:

6) Nintendo loves to combat piracy
The existing DS' GBA cartridge slot has been exploited by hackers who use flash memory cards through the slot to run pirated games - an easy way to get around the small DS card slot. A new model DS (rumoured to feature internal storage in place of the slot) would get around this problem - very attractive for Nintendo, who have always had a big thing against piracy. Remember the tiny Gamecube disks?

Not that slot 1 only flashcards haven't been around for a good long while already so that makes this point null and void.

Honestly if you actually read the article it sounds like they've just gotten their points confused. Most of their argument seems to support a new handheld altogether coming out rather than a new hardware revision. This seems a lot more sensible but I figure the DS has at least another 1-2 years in it yet.

Odin commented on 7 Reasons Why There Will Be A Redesigned DS Honestly, there's no point to it. Just like there was very little point in the micro. The micro was introduced pretty much at the end of the GBA's lifespan to try and drag it out a little longer. If we DO see another DS revision it'll probably be after or just before Nintendo rolls out their next gen handheld. Considering they're on a roll with the DS right now I don't see this being any time soon. As for number 4 that's actually just a lie. Only the Game Boy and GBA had 3 hardware revisions and one of the GB's hardware revisions doesn't really count since it was just a minor addition of a backlight to the pocket and was only ever released in Japan.

The Game Boy Colour only ever had one hardware spec so this goes against that argument. Arguments 5-7 are just incredibly unlikely, increasing the specs would just annoy people as they'd be forced to buy the new one just to make use of anything that made use of the increased power. Short of switching away from a cartridge medium there's not much they could do with a redesign to combat piracy. Downloadable GBA games is just a silly idea as it'd require a significant change to the hardware so you'd actually have somewhere to save them.

But honestly the real reason that there's going to be no DS redesign any time soon is that there's just no point. There's really nothing that they could improve on, all the improvements to the hardware were made with the Lite so there's little point doing much more with it. IF Nintendo do push out another redesign it's going to be later rather than sooner.

Odin commented on G4: Video of Force Unleashed for Wii, Duel Mode @Yetanotheruninspiredscreename:
You're failing to remember that a lot of the training and practice that goes into being a "real" swordsman is to do with the actual sword. It takes a higher degree of skill and training to wield an actual blade because your movements need to be fluid while compensating for the weight and balance of the blade. Not to mention when sword fighting you have to deal with the force of another blade striking yours.

None of these are a factor with the Wiimote, it's not heavy or unbalanced and you don't have to worry about hitting anything else (unless someone is standing a little too close). With a "weapon" that light and easy to wield any untrained person with decent reactions could go against an AI.

Odin commented on Fan-Made Sonic 2 HD Remix Coming @otakucode:
Actually it's still illegal even in Japan. Doujinshi works are however just largely overlooked but still rather illegal. Companies over there allow it most of the time because:
A) It's still promotion for their products.
B) It keeps the fans happy.
C) They can use it to gauge the popularity of their products.

Still if fan works step over the line in Japan, they will crack the whip. I know of a good few Japanese fan games that have been shot down.

The whole situation is a very delicate balance that could collapse at any time. It's definitely not legal though.

Odin commented on 360 GTA IV Is Region-Locked @Phazon:
Well I'm not sure how it'd work with Australian price gouging, also don't know if you guys have to pay customs tax or not. Importing from America or Japan in the UK though won't likely save you any money though unless you have a supplier willing to mark your package as a gift to slip it past customs. This can be trouble for people on both ends though and it's not exaclty legal so it's pretty tricky. Any UK stores that do imports usually apply a markup on it as well so you actually end up paying a little more (but you can get the title early). I ended up paying £35 odd for import DS titles that would retail at £30 when they were released here.

Odin commented on 360 GTA IV Is Region-Locked @SumDum_Guy:
I don't see anything inherently wrong with region locking per say. It's only wrong combined with the massive delays in localising a lot of titles, stupid censoring and titles that just never make it out of their home country (I'm looking at you Japan). If it wasn't for the former I couldn't care less about region locking, but it's those reasons that make region locking a problem.

Odin commented on 360 GTA IV Is Region-Locked Huh I actually thought all 360 games were region locked. This is news to me. Anyway it's not like importing it would make it any cheaper. Unless you have a supplier that's willing to mark packages as gifts so they can slip past customs you still end up paying tax on them. Add shipping on to that and it's usually not worth trying to import to save a few quid. Usually the only real reason to import over here is to skip delays or grab Japanese titles that are unlikely to get a western release.
