What do you mean?

"Used games help the industry! When you consider the value a customer gets for their games at the counter for new games, that may be money that person may otherwise not have. That person spends that money on new releases. If you took that away in my store you would see a 30% drop in sales of new release games!

Digital distribution!

Is not healthy for the industry from a consumer point of view. The quality of games will go down the pan. With this model you get much higher returns as a developer. so you could make a game that only sells 10,000 and make as much money as a retail title that sells 80,000. Less effort and time to make more money, and this is what it's all about!"

Where the hell do you come up with this stuff? Are you smoking the same stuff as hurricanedave?

I can't even follow the logic of your opening statement. Where do you get a drop of 30% in sales? What causes this? If a game does not sell well, but those few copies are bought and sold with all the profits going to retailers and none to the developer, all while saving you five bucks on a title, who do you think feels the burn right away? The developer. And since they lose money on that initial investment, they have to charge more for new releases down the line, and who do you think gets screwed over later? US!

And how is digital distribution bad for the consumer? If the PS3 Warhawk game proved, digital distribution IS a viable form of video game sales. The downloaded version is the exact same in quality as the disc version, yet it sold better than the retail disc version. The higher profits for the developer means more money for another, even better title down the line.
