Groodle commented on Microsoft's Signature Erasing Rampage Continues @Jypsy:

Actually, I don't enjoy wrestling because I don't enjoy wrestling. However, if there was some element of suspense to the outcome, I might be able to enjoy it a little (see: Hockey, Basketball) even if I don't enjoy the core sport.

And sure I can enjoy movies about dodgeball, or whatever. But to compare a movie, or even TV series, to wrestling is (to me) a really unfair comparison.

Soap Operas - where there's an endless string of nonsensical story lines and forced content because they have to keep up what is essentially the exact same storyline or plot thread in each and every show - is the closest I think TV comes to soap operas.

Believe me, I enjoyed some wrestling awhile back during my more drunken college years, so I can relate. But having been able to enjoy it even knowing it was fake, and now thinking I would poke my eyes out with my own toenails if I ever watched any again, has made me think about why.

As I said, just my opinion.

Groodle commented on Microsoft's Signature Erasing Rampage Continues @Lemming To The Sea:

I can understand why you're being so defensive, but I'll try to answer from my perspective. It's pretty simple in my own mind, really.

I enjoy sports. Football and baseball in particular. Finding out when someone is cheating, or throwing a game, or betting on outcomes of matches they're involved in, it infuriates me. A large part of the drama I get out of watching athletic competition comes from the suspense of heading towards an outcome. When either or both of the competitors already know the outcome, it loses all real tension for me.

I'm not saying everyone should think like me, but I do get why most people look down upon it. In the end, knowing it's fake but enjoying it anyway boils down to enjoying watching men in tights throw each other around.

I think that worries people. :D

They should. It will be Microsoft's fault for trying to save face by giving someone special treatment.

This shit has got to stop. People with priceless memorabilia should not be using it for its original purpose. Repair technicians need to stop being brainless douchebags and destroying people's shit. And companies need to stop rewarding people who whine to the press.

Groodle commented on 'The Church of Gamers': Why the Term 'Gamer' Needs to Go @kidnicky:

I'll tell you why.

Because "Games" as we know them were created and driven by people with a deep understanding of their potential as tools to express ideas and allow a user to manipulate an environment in a way real life doesn't allow.

The more the public accepts them, the more companies see dollar signs, and the less deep they become. 90% of games now (A statistic backed up by absolutely no evidence :D ) are just shelf decoration.

It's too bad the requirement for that seems to be delays, and not game quality. I know the majority of you disagree with me, but after Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect, two MAJOR letdowns for me, I could care less about delays and promises if the game is at least fun or interesting to play.

I hear ya, I have no idea how they choose who beta's stuff. I got lucky a couple times early on, and I always made sure I answered their surveys and stuff, just to make sure my account was still active.

It would be nice if beta members, of any game (last one for me before Home was Warhawk), could send out an invite or two to get others into the beta as well.

@BaxterPunch:

Motion controls are much more precise in Warhawk, allowing you to fly and aim independently - but they are way more difficult.

I understand. I do agree it should be optional, certainly, and it should also preclude you from having to insert a disc every time (but that ill not happen for the same reason 99% of PC games that have an install still require the disc be in the tray to play).

However, install processes give me a great reason to peruse the instruction manual of a new game, which I would never do otherwise.

Besides, when I threw in HSG and started up the install last night, I just played come GOW: COO while I waited.

Groodle commented on LittleBigPlanet Nears Alpha @Modus_Operandi:

I have a few thoughts on this.

First, I can understand where you're coming from. That's exactly how I felt about Assassin's Creed after I bought, and quickly returned, it.

Having said that, I played a Sims or two in my day, and it seems like most of my enjoyment came from building the damn house. I could spend hours making things, knowing after about 10 minutes of playing the actual game, I'd erase everything and do it again. I think of these types of games as Lego sets.

I think the level of customization - considering this is one of the first games to ever do this - is astonishing. I don't know what the actual "goal" of the game is. Maybe you complete levels to unlock new building materials - I dunno - but if that's the case, I will be hooked for months.
