GAME OVER.

I've really been enjoying the animated Dead Space comic. That sets the right ambiance. Bioshock did a damn fine job with making the environment itself musical, and I don't have any complaints about the Halo series. You want drums when you're running in a straight line, and guitars when you're driving something badass. In Dead Space I want metallic echos everywhere, and a really muffled filter whenever I freeze time. The thing I don't want is a shock of strings anytime I'm cued up to be scared. This game should feel like a Hitchcock movie with a little Doom3 sprinkled in. (yes I went there)

But it's very true that a certain subset of entertainment producers haven't learnt when to just let the moment be still. *cough*Anime dubs*kofu*

I am really looking forward to seeing how the PS3 and Wii ports do. Obviously the devs are taking the early feedback to heart, and if Factor 5 can swallow their pride and say "shit, patch it" to salve their shoddy playtesting... well I'm no longer going to write a game off for shoddy controls, I'm just going to avoid buying it on Day One.

My only negative point from the demo: The constant glancing at the combat HUD to select the "ready" character. Auto-select dammit!

Once the enemies get tougher then I'll want to plan it out more. So yes, I'm dropping the points on it, soon. Ikaruga and Assault Heroes 2 will wait a little longer.
