His appearance matches the retrofit they did on Big Boss for the original Metal Gear right down to the coat.

Everybody that dies only comes back once in the Metal Gear verse if they're really important and BB came back in MG2. Unless that is a complete prosthetic body and somehow they managed to copy the entirety of Big Boss' consciousness ala Ghost in the Shell cyber brains it's safe to assume that it's just an Outer Heaven or Zanzibar land flash back.

The only second logical answer is that it is another clone.

Seriously, he was already thirty during Snake Eater and in his 60s during the Outer Heaven and Zanzibar Land incidents where Solid Snake literally torched him. There was no post game codec revealing BB was alive in MG2 like in MG1.

If Big Boss were somehow alive in 20XX, assuming it's 2014 if MGS2 took place in 2009, he'd be well into his eighties.

As for the grave Snake is visiting, we've got a good portion of game to get through spanning some time over five acts. What's to say it isn't the grave of a character that perhaps dies during the game?

Black-Dog-Howls commented on New SOCOM Confrontation Screens @DugDawg: Well, at the best of times it was like a well oiled machine grinding out tactical gameplay, crazy teamwork, and insane firefights in tightly packed locations.

At the worst of times, deranged firefights much akin to most shooters.

Basically take MGO, get rid of the Metal Gear quirks, and speed it up.

Had some of the best gameplay modes as well.

Black-Dog-Howls commented on Apple Patent Looks More Than A Little Like The Wii Remote @rannic: If they hadn't said the Wiimote was a wiimote I could have, with 100% guarantee, told you that it looked like a TV or DVD remote.

Black-Dog-Howls commented on Apple Patent Looks More Than A Little Like The Wii Remote @rannic: Depends on the tech used. After all you can't really patent a general idea. Sony and Microsoft lost the rumble battle because of the tech inside, not because of the idea of rumble.

If Apple puts out a motion device, which has existed prior to the wiimote, then any violations of patents would be based solely on the tech and execution.

Black-Dog-Howls commented on Barack/GTA IV Mashups Give Hope To LA @Channing: Aye, it's a private school. You can get a scholorship to Kamehameha if you've got 1/4 Hawaiian blood in you.

That being said, most of the kids are rich and snooty at Punahou. You've just got a 10% margin that got in based on their academic or sports worth. There are kids from Maui, Big Island, and Molokai that do that.

Black-Dog-Howls commented on "Non-Games Are For Non-Gamers" @Sinfjotle: Interesting thing about that. However, this is more alarmist than elitist. Gaming is a general hobby. Many of us partake in its riches and glory. However sales charts are very important. They tell us exactly what is selling. That's why they have people out there that track sales.

The more these "games" sell, and the more people out there that buy them, is the more likely people are to make them. The more likely people are to make them means the less likely some of the really off the wall stuff gets to come out because it'll become far far far too niche in respect to the grand scheme of things.

When mommy dearest buys Cooking Mama DS that's one more sale than Ninja Gaiden DS got. Multiply that by loads and you'll see the issue here.

Like it or not a lot of these previews are advertisement of sorts. If Kotaku suddenly turned 60-70% Non-game friendly with every two out of three articles being about little dictionary apps, or logic puzzle apps we'd all split hairs.

It won't happen any time soon, but the Wii and DS are having trickle down effects. Coupled with piracy and the next couple generations could look a bit bleak.
