The name implies "happy," but that's not the case at Smiling Gator as 2006 gets underway. In addition to scrapping their Source Engine utilizing MMO/FPS hybrid Twighlight War: After the Fall, Smiling Gator shut down all operations completely. Working Designs is dead like Laura Palmer. In a post on the site's official forums, Victor Ireland explains a few factors that ultimately led to Working Designs' doors being closed. Citing an inability to get games approved for U.S. release by Sony as just one (of a likely pretty lengthy list of reasons), Working Designs shut its doors, laid off its employees and is disappearing from the gamescape. Surviving Working Designs titles include the Lunar RPGs for PlayStation, Gungriffon Blaze for PlayStation 2 and Shining Force for the Sega Saturn (for the 12 of you who own a Saturn). More »
