Knuttz.net has posted a pictorial history of the video game console, featuring 71 consoles from the original Odyssey all the way up to the Wii. Titled "Video Game Consoles Evolution", it doesn't feature long, drawn-out histories for each console. No tiresome personal anecdotes like you'd find me writing after every photo. Just 71 crystal clear photographs in chronological order. Simple and clean. More »

The Atari 2600 was one of the 12 nominees up for induction into the National Toy Hall of Fame yesterday, poised to earn its place in history and further the position of video games as a part of our national heritage. The Atari 2600, widely considered to be the first great game console, was capable of playing any number of simple yet fun gaming classics, from arcade ports to edutainment titles. More »

Thank you, Capcom, for bringing more old school arcade goodness to the PSP. Now, if you could just start charging less than $40 for me to get my hands on these collections, that'd be great. Jeremy Parish's newish bi-weekly look at classic games he (and we) may have missed out on goes broader this time, looking at the rich history of Taito. With Taito pumping out four retro collections over the past year, and one of those published in the States by Sega, it's helpful to know what the good (i.e. Elevator Action, Qix) and the just plain awful (i.e. Violence Fight, Growl) are. More »

In it, our hero makes his way through classic game scenes to get his 8-bit ass to a Golden Shower concert (we hear it's an actual band; they're big in Brazil).
