Tipper Ashton writes in to shake his finger at our short-sightedness in lambasting Sony for their gratuitous capitalization of Playstation 3.

Dear Kotaku, I noticed your little ruckus about Sony deciding to get people to write the PlayStation 3 name with all capital letters. I was a little surprised by the harshness you considering that to me this was really nothing new, why? Well, Nintendo tried this with their Nintendo GameCube back in the day. The only evidence I can still find is on Nintendo Australia's website with their FAQ section it states:

"10. What is the correct way to write NINTENDO GAMECUBE?

The preferred way to write the system's name is in all capitals,
NINTENDO GAMECUBE. If necessary, it can also be written as Nintendo GameCube."

Of course I'm not so sure how well it actually caught on, but who
knows with all the publicity you gave Sony about how to properly write their consoles name maybe the Sony PLAYSTATION 3(r) will actually catch on.

I like to seize every chance I can get to make fun of Nintendo, as it gives me intense joy when their see-no-evil fanboys start spluttering and flailing. So hear ye, hear ye: Nintendo did it too. But it looks like they learned their lesson, as I have seen no neverminds made about WII vs. Wii. Eliza Gauger
