Last year's Best Game in Korea award winner Sword of the New World: Granado Espada is set to hit next month, and publisher Elephant Entertainment wants you to preorder it via retail instead of going the online route. What do you get in exchange for giving up the convenience and tree-guiltlessness of a digital download? Along with exclusive beta access, players will start off with 10,000 Vis, which is the fake monies in the game, giving them a huge advantage over the other Vis-farmers struggling to get established.
Plus, everyone who purchases the retail version will get access to an exclusive character not available with the online version, which seems like a pretty damn compelling reason to hit the store. Looking bad for brick and mortar when publishing companies feel they need to bribe customers to even bother leaving the house, but it does seem to produce some rather nifty incentive programs, so I won't worry too too much.
