GAME Says They Aren’t a Monopoly

After Wednesday's announcement that one UK games retailer was taking over their competition, the industry wondered if the company could now face an investigation by the Competition Commission over its dominance over such a niche market.

GAME's chief executive Lisa Morgan says that the deal is all above board. She continues by adding:

The deal will be subject to a regulatory review process and that will be an ongoing process during the first ten weeks. We have taken considerable advice in this area and we are confident and comfortable to proceed.

Any time you have to take on "considerable advice" before doing something usually means you're doing something wrong. Like when you're a kid and you have to ask all of your friends if it's a good idea to barrel down a creek on a skateboard. Sure, you can feel "comfortable to proceed", but "feelings" ain't gonna protect you from, say, gravity.
