				Electronic Arts' mysterious Blueprint division is no more, according to a report from Variety. Formerly lead by EA LA vet Neil Young, the shrouded-in-secrecy project was reportedly established to create lower cost content with smaller teams based on original intellectual property. One of those unnamed projects was being developed by former <em>Metroid Prime</em> developers at start up Armature, but the majority of what Blueprint worked on was never publicly disclosed. 				 Following Variety's story early this morning that <a class="autolink" title="Click here to read more posts tagged ZACK SNYDER" title="Click here to read more posts tagged ZACK SNYDER" href="http://kotaku.com/tag/zack-snyder/">Zack Snyder</a>, the man behind such films as The Dawn of the Dead and 300, has <a href="http://kotaku.com/5056121/300-director-signs-with-ea">signed a deal with EA</a> to make three games, comes the official announcement.

Filmmaker Snyder, whose latest project is the movie adaptation of Watchmen, will be working with EA Los Angeles, the same studio which worked with <a class="autolink" title="Click here to read more posts tagged STEVEN SPIELBERG" title="Click here to read more posts tagged STEVEN SPIELBERG" href="http://kotaku.com/tag/steven-spielberg/">Steven Spielberg</a> on <a class="autolink" title="Click here to read more posts tagged BOOM BLOX" title="Click here to read more posts tagged BOOM BLOX" href="http://kotaku.com/tag/boom-blox/">Boom Blox</a>. 				When <em>Boom Blox</em> didn't explode at retail during its first month on the market &mdash; selling some 60,000 copies in the United States in May &mdash; <a href="http://kotaku.com/5016970/boom-blox-a-bust-at-retail">it was written off by some</a> as a "dud." And by "some," I mean, me. At least I didn't say they were paltry! 				When EA's <em>Boom Blox</em> didn't appear in the <a href="http://kotaku.com/5016045/gta-iv-still-the-us-software-champ-in-may">top ten best selling games for the month of May</a>, we were puzzled. 				Boom Blox is an odd creation. It's a casual game created with the help of a director known for the stories his movies tell. 				 With few exceptions, we've been kept at a distance from Boom Blox since its announcement. In fact, this video is the first time I've even seen the game in action. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun to play, though I can't help but have have flashbacks to my time with Jenga, which was just painful to play on the Wii. 				 Yes, it's got the name Spielberg attached to it, but is that <em>really </em>why you're interested in Boom Blox? Course not. It's because it's another cuddly, colourful Wii game that - thanks to its physics and level of polish - may actually be OK. Thing is, it might not be a Wii game for long, because the way the game's senior producer Amir Rahimi is talking, ports should be expected come Christmas time: <blockquote>Once it's over the sky's the limit. 				The combination of EA, Steven Spielberg and casual Wii gaming targeted at children and retirees may not instill much in the way of hardcore gaming fervor, but there is something unquantifiable about <em>Boom Blox</em> that makes it so appealing. 				You can't fault a guy for thinking the whole Steven Spielberg making video games scenario seems just a tad disingenuous. On a movie set, the director is quite possibly the hardest working, most involved person on staff. Transplanted as a game designer, they show up every once and a while to check stuff out. 			<title><![CDATA[Steven Spielberg's Boom Blox Debuts]]></title>

					 	    The first in a series of EA and Steven Spielberg collaborations is <em>Boom Blox</em>, a Wii game that combines puzzle, physics and a seemingly tolerable version of Jenga into a working package. It may not be the <em>Schindler's List</em> of puzzle games, but we suspect Steve isn't aiming quite that high with his inaugural title. 				Director <a href="http://kotaku.com/gaming/ea/spielberg-does-games-next-131002.php">Steven Spielberg's 2005 deal </a>to create original games with EA comes a step closer to bearing fruit as they unveil their upcoming Wii title, Boom Blox.  While we had a <a href="http://kotaku.com/gaming/e307/spielbergs-games-revealed-275995.php">general idea</a> and were then <a href="http://kotaku.com/gaming/wii/spielbergs-boom-blox-will-be-featured-at-gdc-332625.php">given a name </a>, we now get a full reveal of Spielberg's action-puzzle game a week and a half before it shows up at GDC - and for one I am relieved. When I first heard the term block puzzle tossed about, I'm sure I wasn't alone in thinking some sort of Tetris clone.
