Everybody has dreams. One of my dreams involves me dodging bullets in slow-mo like a badass. Yesterday at E3, the Oculus Rift and a game called Superhot allowed me to live that dream.
We swung by Oculus VR to check out the latest game demos for their new Devkit 2 headset. One of the three demos we played was for Superhot, a game that revolves around moving down a hallway and dodging bullets. The twist is that as you move forward or side to side, time also moves forward, but if you stand still, time slows to a crawl.
It's a cool game on a regular screen, but it's much, much cooler in VR. You can tilt your head to the left and right, bobbing and weaving through bullets like a running back. You can also stop and turn your head to follow a bullet as it inches past you in slow-mo, and when you do this, you will feel like you are in a fucking action movie.
Check out this video of me playing the game. I die very quickly at first, but after that things get dramatic. Take that angry orange dudes! You can't stop me! I know kung-fu!
