Week in Games: Guitar Hero Rock The Eighties Edition

Looks like some good titles coming out this week, so here's a smattering of the best ones! Guitar Hero 80's is a sure fire sale for me, but unfortunately my game budget is rather small so that's all I'll be able to afford. there's actually several other games I'd like to pick up like Persona 3 and Alien Syndrome. I'm even slightly intrigued by Escape From Bug Island despite my earlier suspicions that it will suck. Anything on here look like it will end up in your console for days on end? More »

If you're going to remake Alien Syndrome, there's two things you need to focus on. Aliens, and <s>syndromes</s> weapons. Sega and developer Totally Games (formerly Mostly Games and Smoothies*) have released an arsenal of Wii screenshots focusing on the game's sixteen weapon types and what exactly they'll do to the aforementioned aliens. Instruments of destruction for any occasion! Michael Fahey More »

We've seen the Xbox 360/PS3 graphics comparisons over and over again. But, those consoles are for graphics whores. The Wii is not for graphics whores. It's for fun-loving people who don't mind if their visual experience can be reproduced on a portable system. Case in point: Sega's Alien Syndrome. The game is appearing on both the Wii and the PSP. The sci-fi shooter game follows Earth Command Trooper Aileen Harding as she takes on aliens (hence the title). And from the screenshots, the PlayStation Portable's version looks crisper, cleaner, better. But, that kinda stuff doesn't really matter, does it? No, no, not at all. Brian Ashcraft More »

No, this is not a repost. It appears that another one of Sega's "classic" intellectual properties is making its way to the Wii and the PSP. Alien Syndrome, which saw an arcade release in 1987 on the venerable System 16 platform, was a simple top-down multiplayer shooter with a clear Aliens (the movie) inspiration. More »
