Sega & Adidas Team Up For World Cup Lovin'

Adidas Japan has partnered with Sega for special UFO catchers that will be rolled out this Sunday. These claw vending machines will offer World Cup fans the chance to win little soccer balls and little soccer shirts. World Cup Xbox 360

To help kickoff the World Cup (and sell more consoles), Xbox Japan has once again teamed up with Adidas to co-brand the 360. Packaged in a special box and going on sale in late April, the bundle will include a blue faceplate and bandanas to support Japan's national team. A copy of the FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 will also be included, along with the usual suspects: wireless controller, HDD, remote, etc. There will only be 10,000 of these special bundles produced for soccer-crazy Japan. (Now, there's the daunting challenge of selling them to an indifferent Japanese buying public.) Last time the two companies partnered, the results were less than spectacular. Microsoft's continual catering to the Japanese shows strong resolute and belief in their system. The World Cup 360 faceplate says, "Impossible is Nothing." Fitting. More »

Shoe Shopping and Xbox-ing: Adidas Deals With 360

Adidas and Xbox announced a deal today at X05 that will form a series of partnerships between the chic sneaker dealer and the console company. Before I make a sole/console pun, the deal will implant some Xbox 360 kiosks in Adidas stores worldwide in preparation for 2006's FIFA World Cup. Additionally, "Adidas will install content on Xbox 360 consoles." What kind of content? Shoe commercials? Tie-ins from the Xbox 360 dashboard? We'll have to see when details emerge. More »
