SimCity Social Island Quests: Everything You Need to Knowby Brandy Shaul | Games.com2/14/13 12:55pmFiled to: Games.ComSimcity socialEaKotakusocialEditPromoteDismissUndismissHideShare to KinjaToggle Conversation toolsGo to permalink Earlier this month, SimCity Social players were teased with the information that a new land was coming to the game, but we didn't know exactly when that land would launch, or what it would be until now. The game has finally been updated, allowing players to unlock a new island and tons of new quests, all without breaking the bank. Advertisement To unlock the "New Land," you'll need 100,000 Simoleons, 25,000 Materials, 100 Fame, 10 Hard Hats, 10 Tickets, and 10 Business Cards. When you collect all of these items, you'll be able to warp to a brand new expansion in the game, complete with a harbor and new land that you can build on. Your initial plot of land is fairly small, but you'll be able to expand it relatively easily, by collecting Island Permits and Simileons. These Island Permits are brand new, but can be earned by simply asking your friends to send some to you. When you first land on the Island, you'll be greeted with a series of new quests, and we're here with a look at these quests to get you started. Advertisement Land Ahoy! • Build 5 Homes on the Island • Build a Road on the Island • Build a Decoration on the Island The Island expansion comes with a starting road piece, so feel free to just expand that a bit to finish this task. As for the Homes, they cost 100 coins and one energy each to build. It's worth noting that this land has sand-covered sections that homes can't be built on, so take that into account when constructing your new city. When you finish this first quest, you'll receive 5 XP and an Island Permit.Surf's Up!Build the Surf Shack • Have 3 Businesses on the Island • Build a Factory on the Island Sponsored If you wanted this Island to be nothing but a tropical paradise, you'll need to give up on that idea for a short time, as you must build at least one Factory on the island to fulfill this quest's requirements. If you're looking for a cheap option, just build an Ice Cream Factory for 1,000 Simoleons and be done with it. As for the Surf Shack and Businesses, the Surf Shack costs 26,000 Simoleons to purchase, and can be built using five energy. From there, it requires two Hard Hats, two Holiday Snapshots and one Tanning Oil to finish. When you complete this second official Island quest, you'll receive six more XP and an Island Permit.Expanding Universe • Expand North • Chop 5 Trees Advertisement Advertisement The Expansion here costs just two Island Permits and 10,000 Simoleons. When you unlock it, you'll receive a very long, narrow piece of land, rather than the square pieces that you might be used to. There just so happen to be five trees in this new piece of land, so chop all five to finish this quest. You'll receive 2,500 Simoleons and seven XP for finishing this quest.More City for Your Simoleon • Collect from 5 Businesses on the Island • Have 3 Factories on the Island • Build 3 Decorations on the IslandThis quest takes us back to the basic gameplay of SimCity Social, as you'll just need to keep building businesses and factories, and then wait for them to "charge" before collecting from them. You'll receive 3,000 Simoleons and eight XP for finishing this quest. Advertisement By this point, you should be pretty comfortable with your new piece of land, which can be expanded even more before all is said and done. We'll make sure to let you know if and when this Island expansion receives any additional features or even limited edition quests, but for now, good luck expanding your new city to great heights!Play SimCity Social on Facebook >Have you already expanded to the Island in SimCity Social?
