The Red-Headed Killer Returns to the Nintendo DownloadS

It's an incredibly short week for the Nintendo Download, but that just makes Circle Entertainment's follow-up to the compelling DSiWare action-adventure The Lost Town: The Dust more of a chance to shine. Stare into the eyes of the red-headed killer.

It was a grave oversight on my part that I completely skipped over The Lost Town: The Dust when it appeared in the Nintendo Download last year. Well, Final Fantasy III was partly to blame, but the fact remains — I may have deprived you all of an amazing mix of role-playing, survival and action. You should play it.

And then you can play the sequel! Like the first game, a town (this time in the Amazon jungle) has been consumed by darkness, driving the local people and animals insane. A mysterious girl named Chilia appears, once more tasked with performing quests during the day and setting traps at night to keep the darkness at bay.

Thank goodness the rest of this week's offerings are only a card game and old Mario titles, or I might have missed her again.

Games

The Lost Town: The Jungle
Platform: DSi / 3DS
Price: 500 Points / $4.99

The red headed killer is back! In 1997, a meteorite landed within the Amazon jungle, consuming the land in darkness. The effects of the meteorite caused villagers, and animals to go insane. The villagers that resisted the effects of the meteorite have become prey for those under the influence of its darkness. A girl appears in the jungle named Chilia. Behind her beautiful exterior hides elite combat skills that will be used to help get rid of the Amazon of the mysterious meteorite. You're aware of your skills, but you also need to find food, ammunition, and other resources for survival. Sane villagers will provide rewarding quests in the daytime, but when the sun goes down, you will need to set traps around camp and recruit assistants to keep things safe. In this mission, you must locate the meteorite; the area will be swarming with opposition. Its effects on people and animals will vanish if you are successful, there will be no rescue team, so success is the only option.
