Donkey Kong’s King Extends His Reign With a New World Record High ScoreEvan Narcisse5/29/12 11:00amFiled to: Donkey Kongking of kongNintendoHank chien49EditPromoteShare to KinjaToggle Conversation toolsGo to permalink 1,110,100 points. That's the new Donkey Kong high score and it was set by the guy who's dominated Nintendo's arcade classic for two years straight. And he could've gone even higher.AdvertisementAs reported by The Examiner's Patrick Scott Patterson, Hank Chien notched his latest achievement two levels before the game's infamous kill-screen, the programming roadblock where it becomes impossible to play any further:"I died two screens shy of the killscreen so my score would have been a little higher, perhaps 1.12 million points. I had a spare man going into Level 21 and was mentally preparing to sacrifice it on the last barrel board and my game was over a few minutes later. That's how Donkey Kong rolls sometimes."Chien's playthrough to the 1.1 million score happened on the 18th but was verified ås legit today. It seemed like Hank Chien came out of nowhere two years ago when he bested both Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell's high scores to become the world's #1 Donkey Kong player. And he knows that when his run is over, it'll be an unheralded someone swooping with ridiculous barrel-jumping skills, just like he did.
