Taking place some ten years after the Raccoon City incident that started this whole business, Resident Evil 6 begins with the President of the United States about to reveal the truth behind the incident to the world at large. Unfortunately he instead transforms into something hideous due to a bioterrorism attack, causing his personal friend and bodyguard Leon S. Kennedy to clean up the mess.
Meanwhile Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China to deal with a bioterrorism attack there. Nowhere is safe. We're all going to die. Watch the vid to see for yourself. So screwed.
It looks like we might be getting a mix of both traditional Resident Evil survival horror gameplay and the more action-packed battles of the latter entries in the series.
"Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series," commented Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing via official press release. "The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world."
Perhaps tonight's special Resident Evil event in San Francisco will shed more light on the ambitious sixth chapter in the world's most beloved survival horror series.
The outbreak goes global on November 20 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The PC infection will follow soon after.
