Spaceships,Rockets and Christmas Elves are our Xbox Live Indie Favorites

Every few weeks we here at Kotaku make a selection of some of the best Indie games that Xbox Live has to offer. These are our latest favorites.

You'll be able to find the list here for reference, or in the "Kotaku's favorites" channel in the Indie Game section of Xbox Live's Games Marketplace.

Orbitron: Revolution (240 MS Points): If you are a fan of shmups then Orbitron: Revolution is right up your alley. The game looks pretty amazing and it puts a twist on the genre by making it more-free roaming. Not many Xbox indie games look quite as impressive as Orbitron and that kind of polish really goes a long way.

Elfsquad7 (80 MS Points): The premise Elfsquad7 is simple. Select a character, shoot some falling objects and collect presents. When you get a required amount of presents you complete the stage. It's pretty addictive. You can grab a friend or two and try to see who can get the most kills/presents.

Growing Pains (240 MS Points): It's a 2D platformer. You know, like all the other ones. Hey, it looks like Meat Boy! But there's a twist, as there always is. In this game, your character is growing as each second ticks by. If you don't get him through a maze fast enough, he's going to be too portly to squeeze through. That's a good twist. Give this game a try.

TurboRocket 2 (80 MS Points): TurboRocket 2 is a vector-based shooter that does not show you any mercy. You have the choice of piloting two different ships, an Asteroid-inspired vehicle or a floating ball. The floating ball allows you to shoot in all directions regardless of the direction you are traveling, while the Asteroid ship only shoots straight ahead, but at a much faster rate of fire. Catering to different play styles and strategies, TurboRocket 2 will keep you coming back for more.

Oozi: Earth Adventure Ep. 2 (80 MS Points): Oozi is a platforming game that feels pretty solid, has fun artwork and makes me want to keep playing. You can't ask much more. For one dollar, it's a good distraction.
