After receiving a rather lukewarm reception on the PlayStation Network, Acquire is bringing the Japanese-flavored old fashion turn-based dungeon crawling of Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls to iOS next week.

Long before I was running through MMORPG dungeons in full first-person 3D, I was pointing and clicking my way through PC classics like Bane of the Cosmic Forge and Crusaders of the Dark Savant. All I needed were some character portraits, stats, and a first-person perspective of a tunnel filled with monsters and I was good to go.

The Japanese kept the dream alive long after traditional Wizardry games stopped being made in the U.S., and Acquire brought a little of that love to North America earlier this year with the PlayStation Network release of Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls. While the classic flavor didn't sit well with PlayStation 3 fans, it should be right at home on the iPhone when it launches on November 3.

It features 20 levels spanning two dungeons, eight character classes and five races, and more than 120 different monsters to kick your ass all over those dungeons. This is a hardcore RPG experience that will definitely test your skills and patience.

I say bring it on.
