They asked their advertising agencies for ideas that would show the Resident Evil experience without relying solely on gameplay, and the one that struck them featured a zombie following a guy around like a dog. But it's not just any dog—it's a super needy and annoying dog. That needs to be put down every now and then. [gallery 5815376] Luckily, the concept was open to some interpretation. Some saw the infected creature not as the man's pet, but as a figment of his imagination—the after-effects of playing too much Resident Evil. The idea of a man with an imaginary zombie tag-along felt a bit more "Resident Evil," so ultimately, they ended up aiming for a bit of an undead Tyler Durden, who silently influenced every aspect of the player's life, acting as a constant reminder of the game world.
