As Sony gets its PlayStation Network back online in the West, subsidiary So-net, Sony's internet provider, was hacked earlier last week.
Intruders entered So-net's customer rewards site and made off with USD$1,225 worth of customers' redeemable gift points.
"Although we can't completely rule out the possibility that there is a connection with the PSN issue, the likelihood is low," Keisuke Watabe, a spokesman at So-net Entertainment, told The Wall Street Journal.
The reason for this, Sony said, was because the hack was different. This comes as security experts discovered Sony Thailand's website was being used for phishing.
