Final Fantasy's Fighter Knocks Out The Competition In Japan

The Nintendo 3DS had a great second week in Japan, with another 200,000 gamers snapping up stereoscopic 3D hardware. But it was a PSP game that dominated the software charts (again), with Square Enix's dramatic fighting game adventure Dissidia 012: Duodecim Final Fantasy dominating the sales charts.

The latest Dissidia sold an impressive 286,117 copies in its first week of release, knocking former software champ Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity down to sixth place. Spike's Way of the Samurai 4 also debuted, placing second and giving the PlayStation 3 some top ten representation.

Nintendo 3DS games continue to sell well with the latest Professor Layton and Nintendogs leading the pack. Nine out of ten of the bestselling games in Japan are for handheld platforms, thanks to strong showings from the 3DS and PSP.
