Ubisoft, when you show a game that is essentially Ikaruga reimagined as a platformer, congratulations, you have our undivided attention.
This is Outland, for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade, a game first teased by the publisher last week. It's a 2D, side-scrolling platformer which borrows Ikaruga's core mechanic of a light/dark shooting system: your character can switch between light and dark, and there are light and dark enemies and bullets. While light, you won't take damage from light bullets. While dark, you won't take damage from dark bullets.
The catch? To actually kill a dark enemy, you have to be light, and vice versa.
In addition to this, the game's art style looks gorgeous, though sadly we're yet to actually see it in motion. We'll have to wait until PAX kicks off for that.
