Are you a North American BlazBlue fan that's upset that Aksys didn't offer a collector's edition for BlazBlue: Continuum Shift? If so, then these UK/European exclusive special editions will really piss you off.
Like many North Americans, I was slightly disappointed that I didn't have the option to pick up a collector's edition of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift last week. After offering a rather nifty collector's edition for the first game, Calamity Trigger, North American publisher just didn't have time to work up anything fancy for the follow-up. It's still a great game, and the beginner mode is a godsend to novice players. It just could have been so much more.
Enter UK and Europe publisher Zen United, releasing not only a limited collector's edition, but a highly-limited fan edition as well, packed with BlazBlue goodies.
The BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Limited Edition for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 features a 96 page art book and eight art cards, featuring the special moves, distortions and combos of characters in Continuum Shift's roster. It'll be available at participating retailers in October.
The BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Fan Edition contains the Limited Edition of the game, along with downloadable content character Makoto the squirrel girl, a Noel figurine, and a limited edition art print by Marvel and Udon artist Alvin Lee, who also supplies the cover art for the standard edition.
The Fan Edition is limited to 500 pieces, and is only available directly through the Zen United store. Preorders are now open, so you might want to jump on that deal before they're all gone.
The Limited Edition retails for £49.99, and the Fan Edition is a steal at £54.99. PlayStation 3 players should keep in mind that the UK/European version will play on North American consoles, while the Xbox 360 version is region locked.
I guess I'm not too terribly bummed that we didn't get any collector's edition love in the states. The game is still lovely, even without an art book or a statue.
