iPhone game Star Wars: Trench Run received a major update today that adds new levels, new ships and the ability to play the free web version of the game with your iPhone as a controller.

The $5 title does require a $1 upgrade to use your iPhone as a remote controller for the web version, but after my short time with the game I think it's worth it.

Star Wars Trench Run 2 Turns Your iPhone Into a ControllerS

The add-on divides up the screen of your iPhone or iPod Touch into a four buttons: view, pause, slow motion and fire. You steer by tilting the device back and forth and tap the buttons to fire or enter slow motion. The game itself plays out on the Trench Run website. Gameplay was liquid smooth, though the vid cap I uploaded, apparently, is not.

Here's a run down of all of the other things you get with the free upgrade to 2.0:

Levels
1. Escape - Man the turrets of the Millennium Falcon to fight off the attacking TIE fighters to deliver Princess Leia safely to the hidden Rebel base!
2. Han Solo - From the bottom gun turret of the Millennium Falcon, flying just above the trench, fight to protect Gold Squadron's Y-wings during the Battle of Yavin!
3. Han Solo Arcade - Protect the 3 Y-wings and destroy on-coming surface cannons and incoming TIE fighters as long as you can!

Ships
1. Millennium Falcon
2. Y-wing
3. TIE fighter
4. Darth Vader's Advanced TIE fighter

I know this isn't the first App to turn the iPhone or iPod Touch into a wireless controller for a computer, but it's my favorite so far.
