    New PS3 Helps Gundam Rocket To Top Of Japanese Game Charts

    Thanks to a spike in Japanese PlayStation 3 sales, the platform claims the top spot in this week's Media Create software sales chart with Mobile Suit Gundam Senki Record U.C. 0081, one of two new PS3 games to chart highly.

    The other is Sega's 428: Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de, a PS3 game we're unlikely to see anywhere outside of Japan. Revitalized interest in Sony's current gen platform gave a boost to a few older PlayStation 3 titles, including the greatest hits—aka "The Best"—re-releases of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Hot Shots Golf 5, securing spots in the top thirty.

    The rest of the chart largely still belongs to Nintendo and its platforms, as bestsellers Tomodachi Collection and Dragon Quest IX continue to move at a healthy evergreen pace.

    Japan's top games for the week of August 31 to September 6 are as follows.
