    Nice Apocalyptic Flick

Re: Friday? I Didn't Know It Was Friday.

Trish and I were watching television last night and stumbled upon 1950's flick On the Beach. The movie is essentially one huge downer about the world killing itself with nukes. It takes place in an Australia awaiting the radioactive winds to wipe clean the last vestige of humanity. There's not a whole lot of finger-pointing, but there is a whole lot of suicide pill handing out and dour looks. It's got Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire and even Anthony Perkins in it, so you know Hollywood had a huge bug up their ass about Nukes in the Fifties. Anyway, it's worth a watch if you ever get a chance if only to see Hollywood's take on the 1950's Australian which apparently is someone who is always drunk and constantly sings Waltzing Matilda.
