Ready to bend our ear? 'Cause the Tell Us Dammit Giraffe is ready to listen. That's right, it's time for TUD. We've got a feature here on Kotaku called "Tell Us Dammit" or "TUD." How it works: We ask a question, you answer it. Simple and no strings attached! This isn't some marketing survey or whatever. It's an emotional investment in you. Yes, we're interesting in knowing you, Kotaku reader person. You probably know fucktons about us — more than you even want to, we're sure. But, hey, we'd like to know about you. That way you won't be some faceless blob — and we might feel a tinge of guilt when we ban your ass. Or not, because really we're incapable of human emotion. Today's question:
What game is TOO HARD for you?
With McWhertor playing through R-Type Command, that reminds me of a fit R-Type on the TurboGrafx 16 gave me as a lad. Man, that game was frustration city!

Comments
From recent games, Mario Kart Wii. Stupid rubber band AI.
I wanna be the guy!
I hate this game with a passion, and it hates me back.

Earth Work Jim.. got so frustrated with it when I was little... never beat it.. gave up and I refuse to ever play it again..
@itango:
Yeah, but that game was MADE to make you kill something in anger.
battletoads
R-type on Turbografx? Oh my, dozens of hours wasted on that game when I was 8...
Sonic 360...one level kept me from ever finishing the game..I spent five hours trying to pass it once..and never could....horribly frustrating, and this is someone who found Shinobi easy...
I've been playing Rtype 1 and 2 lately from the psn and there are times when i want to pull out my beautiful flowing locks.
also guitar hero on the higher difficulties tend to piss me off.
for the most part though when a game is hard its enjoyable for me, even if I get frustrated at the moment.
@amost: you're joking, right? Sidescrolling fighter games are long...and repetitive, but not impossible.
Listening to the horribly written and acted dialogue in Gears of Wars (and the Haze demo) makes me want to pull my hair out.
Sometimes when I play Pixel Junk Monsters and think I have it all under control, more stupid monsters get to my base and I lose.
Oh my god...I absolutely could not beat my brother at Goldeneye...to this day I feel animosity towards the FPS genre, even though I am not quite as bad at it now.
Also, I had no idea what I was doing in Every Extend Extra. I read the booklet and everything; the stupid game made no damn sense to me and I never made it past five minutes.
N for PC, I think the XBOX360 isn't so hard but it has its moments.
@blurayforever143:
You've clearly never played Battletoads.
Sonic the Hedgehog games get all the way to the end Game Over and I have to start over again dammit. Sure now I can go through fine but when I was 6 that crap was annoying it cost me like 3 controllers.
@blurayforever143: The normal stages are rarely difficult in Battletoads. It's the damn bikes that get everyone...
Currently, Mario Kart Wii (screw you blue shell socialism) and Rock Band drums (screw you Honest Bob. I Get By sucks and your drum part is hard.) I actually (softly) threw my drumsticks once earlier this week because of it.
The Mega Man series, because I'd beat the whole fucking game and never beat the impossible Wiley's castle.
@itango: Wow, I was going to say I wanna be the guy, thanks for stealing my game >:O
I can't unlock that last level in Rez no matter how hard I try.
And some of the scripted chase missions in GTA IV make me scream.
But there hasn't been any games I've played that I couldn't enjoy or beat.
There's always at least one point in every Zelda that makes me want to pull my hair out.
Contra 4
Tom and Jerry for the Gameboy
I duno if I can beat it now
But ''way back when...'' I use to get stuck on like level 3
I hated it so much I havent played it in like 10 years
Mario Kart Wii, If you played it you already know what I'm talking about. Thank God i'm done with that shit. I sold it to a friend so he can suffer now.

^ Hardest game I've ever played.
Too hard for me... hmm... What haven't I beaten?
Ah! Battletoads, still can't beat the first level. That game was forged in Hades or England. They're both pretty close to each other and Rare is a known entity in both.
echochrome! i like puzzles, however this doesn't necessarily mean that i am good at them!
From a control perspective, I found Tony Hawk 3 impossible to get down. I could see the great potential in the game, but I just could not stick any of the more complex tricks. Never had a problem with SSX or other boarding games.
Overall, that one really frustrating game was Battletoads, yet I couldn't put it down (damn speedbikes).
SIN AND PUNISHMENT ON THE HARDEST MODE.
DO IT.
@blurayforever143: yeah, you've obviously never played the turbo tunnel stage.
Ghosts and Goblins. Fuck Ghosts and Goblins. Actually, just fuck the goblins. Your dick will just go right through the ghosts.
@TheExiledLeader:
I could beat that game in about fifteen minutes when I was five. :P Good times.
one of Zero's Missions in San Andreas involving a toy plane. goddamn that was bloody annoying, also Devil May Cry 3 (original), Jak II, and God of War (Ares Boss Battle)
For me, it had to be Dead or Alive 4 for the Xbox 360. That game frustrated me so much. The AI was so cheap, and when I was trying to unlock all the costumes, it was hell...especially when I was using Spartan and had to beat Alpha 2 times in a row 8 times....oh boy. I think I actually ripped my blinds down.
The flash game N
@amost:
Stole the words right out of my mouth.
Battletoads.

But more specifically the Ice Level. The snowmen, sliding ice blocks, and those insta-kill green spike things, in which it was near impossible to avoid falling on to instead of the ice block.
Friday the 13th....
God damn that was hard as hell. I never met one person who beat it.
@crayola77: I wanna be the guy is harder then the japanese one, i played them both :/ FUCKING TETRIS BLOCKS OMFG FUCKING TETRIS BLOCKS!!!1
Definitely cliffhanger for sega genesis. the avalanche is impossible!!
Mars Matrix, or Ikaruga. It's not that they're impossible, it's the fact that they require TOO much time to perfect, and NO human should have that much time. :p
The only time i ever BEAT either, were with cheats -_-
Call of Duty 4. I've shut off my Xbox during that one more than any other game out of frustration.
Ikaruga
in a good way.
@Fierfaerie: I enjoyed tearing everybody apart in that game when Playing as the Midget.
I agree on Mario Kart Wii.... the amount of items meant to knock out the person in first to last is completely ridiculous now. That and Ninja Gaiden (Xbox) both piss me off.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES. That damn dam just eats up my turtles, and by the time I get to the other side I wind up with Raphael on a sliver of life. And the game was ostensibly marketed toward children, which just rubs salt in the failure...
JINPACHI FUCKING MISHIMA FROM TEKKEN 5!
I HATE YOU!
Shinobi for the PS2...oh you bastard...
@OneManFreakShow: Alright I'll give you that.
My real nemesis (the platformer genre) has one specific enemy I loathe.
Starwars for the gameboy. I still have it, it still hates me, I still fail miserably.
@blurayforever143: seconded. you didnt play battletoads.
its all about old-school ones for hair-pulling. ecco the @#$%in dolphin comes to mind.
Any game with 'Tactics' in the title.
hmm, that's a hard one. Umm, I'd have to go with, at the moment, Uncharted. But I just suck at shooters. Pretty soon though, I'll have Portal to deal with.
I know, I'm behind on the times.
MLB 2k8, for starters....
In terms of old-school, the final stage of Ninja Gaiden on NES.
@Grimmjow Jeagerjaques:
OMG YES. I hate the freaking Zero Mission. I even put in cheats to slow time and still failed!
