Next week's batch of fine Rock Band downloadables brings some classic credibility to the table, with a trio of individual songs that you won't be able to buy in some sort of value added, cred-building bundle. Each new download will set you back the standard $1.99 USD (160 Microsoft Points) when they hit next week. Damn, that "Train In Vain" is quite the toe-tapper. I'm so into it, my overbite is showing.
- "Hanging on the Telephone" by Blondie
- "Train in Vain" by The Clash
- "Kool Thing" by Sonic Youth

That's odd. A pretty decent selection, but no bundle pack.
Any reason?
Sigh.
CRAP Kool Thing comes out for Rock Band, a good friend is coming in town looking forward to playing Rock Band and my DAMN 360 RROD's
talk about crappy timeing
I don't care about Blondie and Sonic Youth, but I really need to find a friend with Rock Band and convince him at all cost that he needs Train in Vain. If it doesn't work I guess I'll just have to buy it myself on his system ...
*Sigh*
Homer Simpson wrecks my pig.
Cyrpis Hill steals my orchestra.
And Sonic Youth's in my cooler! GET OUT OF THERE YOU KIDS!
Talk about the Testament tracks!! TALK ABOUT THE TESTAMENT TRACKS!! :D

another week another pack that doesn't appeal to me sadly, if GH can get boston and journey and RB gets boston, why can't RB get journey :(
@Zaos: Same here. I hated playing Kool Thing in GH. Such an annoying song. Didn't buy anything from the "scene" pack or Judas Priest album either. I went from 2-3 songs a week to zero for the past couple of weeks.
I LOVE Hanging on the Telephone. I can't wait!
Wooohooo more Clash songs!
This almost makes me want to buy Rockband, just so I can download Kool Thing and annoy my brother by playing it all the time.. since he hates the song but I love it.
@I_Hate_This_Place: fo sho, its not like these songs are bad, don't get me wrong they're great songs if you're into them, but personally im not.
and i see that happening more and more releasing songs that don't intrest me. from the getgo there were 3 packs a month i'd buy... i haven't purchased anything since the boston pack and nothing that i can remember before that :(
I don't wanna... buy these songs I don't think so
I've heard lots of complaints about Kool Thing when people talk about it in Guitar Hero 3. I don't see what's so bad about the song, though.
Come on! Once again, why can't they get the best songs from these artists? Why not Heart of Glass from Blondie and well, I don't know a lot of Sonic Youth, but I looooove Superstar. Although it's a remake that's a damn good song. Maybe not so good for Rock Band. hmmmmm. I dunno, but they could've got Heart of Glass for Blondie. With her cute little rap, well, it sucks now, but I'm sure it was cool as hell when it came out back then!
Train in Vain is an awesome song. but I don't know how fun it will be to play the guitar part. It's fairly repetitive.
once again, Ill Pass. I never liked Kool Thing as a song, and playing it on GH3, why should I play this in RB?
@The Red Comet:
i think the complaints are from people who don't know sonic youth and get confused at the song.
They are also not playing it right you should use a drum stick at some point while playing and during long feedback sections you should either drag the guitar on the floor or put it on top of the TV and play with the volume settings. Alternatively you can take the guitar apart and play the song that way.
I do wonder how the vocals are going to be done... will you have to do the chuck D vocals as well as the kim vocals?
@The Red Comet: Add me to the list... it's one of my least favorite songs in GH3.
@jello44: Cypress Hill.
Anyway, woo, Sonic youth, yadda yadda, bring the game to Australia, etc, etc.
@jello44:
You beat me to it!!!! Good job, sir.
Kool Thing = just no fun to play.
Train in Vain = Heckz yeah.
@I_Hate_This_Place:
The Judas Priest pack wasn't that bad. Two songs for sure are really fun.
This is a nice selection but I think it'd be even better as a PACK.
@The Red Comet: I like the song, but it's no fun to play. That's why I hate it, but I think most people just don't like the song itself.
@el.sand.bag: The Hellion for sure!

No Whos Next, I remain outraged.
Don't really like Kool Thing. I know some people love it though which is probably why it was released. Nothing for me this week. Hopefully the cars album is next week... (although maybe not, I should really be saving up money...). Liked the last 2 weeks. Even if I don't like next week's DLC, it'll be alright since I know the next week's would have to be the Cars album.
@Erwin: Yes, Electric Eye is awesome. I like all of the songs on the album though save for 1 or 2. They're all fun to sing too. Scene pack is great for singers.
I may have requested Train in Vain five times on the Rock Band website.
:-D
More crap DLC for Rock Band. At least they release enough DLC that even though most of it is pure Harmonix wank job garbage, a decent amount of good stuff squeaks through. Maybe next week.
I am going to get Train in Vain otherwise I am skipping the rest for this week.
Songs I desperately want on Rock Band in no particular order
"Head like a Hole" Nine Inch Nails
"One Armed Scissor" At the Drive In
"Know your Enemy" Rage Against the Machine
"Dance COmmander" Electric Six
ANY QUEEN!
I was just whining about missing Kool Thing from Guitar Hero 3 and started trudging through the game on Hard to play it again. It's like Harmonix read my mind! I'm all over this.
I really hope this opens some floodgates for Sonic Youth in Rock Band. I'd love to see just about anything from Dirty. That album'd work great in the game. Though a 30 minute cut of Diamond Sea sure would be epic (but dreamland).
@The Red Comet: Yeah, I for one thought Kool Thing was an oasis in the crap desert that was the GHIII song list. GHII and Rock Band have more stuff that's up my alley. Glad to see Sonic Youth finally showing up in Rock Band.
@Erwin: Read Harlock's comments. Yer doin' it wrong.
That said, I would totally pick up RB if they had some sort of "generate feedback using improvised third bridge while detuning your strings" mini-game.
Yes Train in Vain, more drumming fun. They need to add a harmonica to Rock Band with a Blues Travler album release.
@Deltakiral: The whole "Relationship of Command" album would be my biggest fulfilled dream. I'd buy it for $50 on dlc.
Sonic Tooth! Sonic Tooth! Sonic Tooth!
The Clash, woo! Now, if only they could release this game in Europe...
Blerg. Bring back the metal, Harmonix.
@Beatboxtaun: Are you thinking of "Rapture"? There's no little rap in "Heart of Glass". But as far as other songs from the same artists are concerned, Blondie's
"Dreaming" would be hella fun to play on drums.
The hometown show is the best, Homer. You get to show all your old friends what a successful freak you've become.
TRAIN IN VAIN! This is what I've been waiting for!
@Pornosaur: Hell give me a three song pack of "Invalid Litter Dept." "One Armed Scissor" and either "Sleepwalk Capsules" or "Cosmonaut" and I'd be thrilled.
