Thing is though, besides the partially destructible environments, I can't see a big "boom" to be excited for. It's just Unreal Engine 3.5 you know. And the destructible environments I have already seen in a presentation. They are mighty cool of course, don't get me wrong.

But yea, personally I'm not all excited for this footage, but I'll definitely watch it. Not holding my breath here. I'm curious to see if they actually made changes to the gameplay that are more than just assign a new control scheme.

I'd be much more excited for actual FF13 gameplay footage to see if it's been a load of bollocks so far (the previous videos). Well, guess that's too far down the road.

Damn, I forgot all about this video coming out this Friday, I need to set myself a reminder to watch it, because lately my life has been a bit too pre-occupied with goings on in Liberty City. If there is one game capable of dragging me away from GTA4 it's Gears of War 2.

@Leobebes: To be honest I thought Gears was a mediocre game. Horrible AI, Crappy Multiplayer, Crappy Online Community, Predictable story..

The premise was ok, and the cover system wasn't bad. I think Rainbow Six Vegas really perfected that whole aspect.

The best part of the game was Marcus, aka Bender, and I'll probably borrow it from a friend to play through.

Gears was the reason I bought a 360. Awesome game. Can't wait for the sequel. I want a bigger choice of weapons this time, though. Halo has well and truly spoiled me in that department...

@freakout: Eh, a better multiplayer interface would really force a buy for me. I'm tired of inactive hosts and getting kicked for lancering too much.

You know, this footage has the opportunity to REALLY get people pumped. I'm not expecting to be blown away, because I'm just not expecting a ton of gameplay footage or surprises. But I'm VERY curious and want to see it.

What's really nice is that, since I don't have Spike HD, I'll still be able to see it in HD online Friday.

I'm actually a little excited by all this. But seriously though Michael, don't even joke about that. The less I see of that rat-faced Cliffy B, the better. The prospect of seeing and hearing him promoting this thing all over again (with the ghetto slang and the awkward facial hair), makes me wretch. He's like a repulsive (although slightly less annoying) version of Jade Raymond.

@Leobebes: If you would know me, you'd know that I had a 360 until not too long ago and I didn't overly enjoy Gears on it, either. It looked great for its time but I didn't bother to play past the 4th level. Generic storyline meets third person shooter with fancy graphics. Need I say more? Well, maybe "Space Marines".

Anyhow, I don't think you can blame me for being more excited for MGS4 than Gears of War 2. Who isn't.

@Candlejack: I couldnt give a rats ass about MGS4 but am quite excited for Gears 2 so there. I'll take a generic story and awesome gameplay over pretentious storytelling (ie 20min cutscenes that make no sense) and slow ass, clunky gameplay anyday.

@Gray665: Opinions are like assholes right. Everyone has got one. Don't see why I should hold back and not state mine. Also, I wasn't too serious with my last sentence, of course there are some people who like Gears better than MGS. None that I communicate with though...

@Candlejack: Totally, you have your opinion and I have mine, but don't think that thinly veiled attacks on people who like a certain game that you don't like won't go unanswered. 2 sides to every coin and all that jazz...

@Gray665: That's the problem though. When people aren't absolutely adoring a game, things get personal. Now I can understand mindless hatorade or fanboy blabber, but I try to be as objective as possible with these things. I mean, I love what I played from Mass Effect and seen from Too Human. But some games I just don't - e.g. Gears. The same goes for every platform; I loved Heavenly Sword but hated Resistance.

I'm looking forward to the footage. I like the idea of destructible environments and bigger, more massive battles. I do hope, though, that there are some changes to gameplay.

I wasn't a huge fan of the roadie run in the first game -- was hard to control and I often found myself running into cover, at the wrong times. I hope they tweak it.

I, however, loved the chainsaw attachment in the first game and am excited to see how the chainsaw duels will work.

My only other concern is the timeframe. Epic is working on a tight release schedule, considering the last game came out just two years back.

Granted, the engine has already been tweaked for the Xbox 360 and the character models have already been made, so that may significantly cut down on development time.

I just hope the levels in Gears of War 2 are as creative and memorable as the first game, and I hope to really get to see some bigger, more open environments.

All of the tweaks to the engine look great -- the new lighting, destructible environments, meat cubes!, etc. So, overall, I am excited.

Is it true multiplayer on GO2 will be 5 vs 5?

@Candlejack: I dont mind if you dont like Gears, I mean everyone likes different stuff. Its the tone I didnt care for. I dont like being talked down to for liking something someone else doesnt, whether it be a game, a band, a movie, whatever.
