World in Conflict: Soviet Assault Yulja Campaign

World in Conflict is quite an unique take on PC strategy gaming, so I'm interested to see what World in Conflict: Soviet Assault will do for the Xbox 360 and PS3 (it's also popping up on the PC). This video shows off some of the single player campaign missions from the Soviet point of view. Most of them have been added to the single player campaign included in last year's release.

  • Pass for me. Waiting for Red Alert 3.

  • I love Massive games, and they seem to be maturing in the story department.

  • World in Conflict is fantastic. If your not a PC gamer, and have a supported console, have at it. You won't regret it.

  • Wow, that was really chilling. So this is an RTS, eh?

  • humm, is it just me or did the text at the end of the trailer there kida ruined the whole atmosphere of the trailer?

  • World in Conflict was one of my favorite single and multiplayer games of last year. Whacked up to full with DX 10 the destruction looks amazing, coupled with awesome gameplay and a decent if not hammy story and cutscenes, its a game I highly recommend to everybody.

As long as the mission pack is good, itl all be awesome. But I fail to see just how great this game can be made to fit a controller. The combat is so frantic and fast paced that I dont think a controller has what it takes to keep up. I dont think C and C managed proper control, and thats a slower paced game.

  • @RogerKint: On the other hand, it has a considerably tighter focus with much fewer units per player. I only have like 3 groups of units at max, which makes the major problem with controllers, the lack of buttons, less important. Also, no resource gathering, so you're focused on the front with all your units, and don't have to jump back to base to make new ones, making the control stick problems less important as well

  • Still love playing this game online, very addictive and fun with good players. Gonna get Soviet Assault as soon as it comes out

  • I'm all for it. I've played the PC installment and have no complaints.

  • So is this the original and the expansion pack or just an expansion pack or just the console version? I have World in Conflict for my PC, but I haven't played the actual game... just using it as a benchmark. But im wondering if this is gonna be more than a port cause then i might pick it up for xbox360.

  • I really liked the PC version and if Red Alert and Halo Wars fail me, i will be picking it up! fo' sho'

  • This and StarCraft II are the ones for me.....Red Alert if one of my buddies picks it up for the co-op play then I'll pick it up.

  • the only time i love the Russian motherland.

    :3

Go you lovable ruggy weapons of WAR!

    *hug BMP-3*

    :)

  • I've been enjoying the hell out of WoC for a couple weeks now. It seems like a good choice of RTS for a console port, with small focus, limited number of units, and mission-based objectives. So here's hoping this is good.

  • that was pretty classy, love the music.

  • WIC has breathed life in the RTS genre with innovation and a new direction.

Well, I won't go into that too much.

I live in Seattle was sobering to defend my hometown. The accuracy of the maps is chilling. I'm actually a tad apprehensive to actually attack my home.

Forgive me for being overly sensitive but I hope they make playing the invasion tasteful. I am pretty optimistic, though, after playing WiC.

  • @Yuki: More specifically an RTT (Real Time Tactical) There is no base building, etc. Units are dropped in as reinforcements and you command them with support powers unlocked the better you play (nukes, air strikes). Although the strategy is still there so yes, it can go under the umbrella of real time strategy.
