What starts out as a pretty slow, actually not so funny take on God of War Chains of Olympus, turns to typical gold after Yahtzee seems to find his stride and knocks it out of the park again and again... as usual.

Yes, there certainly seems to be more strawberries in this shortcake for once, although in Yahtzee's case, I think I more prefer the whipped cream. There are a couple gems towards the end but the first half is largely exposition. Not the worst, but not the best. Carry on!
Nice "They Live" reference!
10$ says this gets re-released on the PS2
@balls187++: Ready at Dawn has already said they will not be porting it to the PS2.
brilliant, I wish all reviews were done like this.
...begins the countdown towards the inevitable "This guy sucks! Why does anyone even watch this stuff?" post.
10...
9...
8...
spot on as usual, although not as funny as CoD4 one.
here is a countinuity (sp?) error i spoted.
Why is the guy playing God of War on his TV when he is using his PSP?
lol funny error i spotted.
@Dakobah: Because you can plug your PSP into a TV?
Wow, this dude actually liked something.
Loved COO, but found the review funny as well. Hope people will lighten up a bit.
did i hear yahtsee slur towards the end?? lol so hot
Not his best effort.
@jsf49: He's liked several things.
DAMMIT! I haven't finished the game yet, therefore can't watch this yet :(
I don't normally watch until the end, but that Brawl still shit is brilliant.
@El Patricko: What else? Just curious. I might check the stuff out.
Eh, this one was entertaining, and I can't wait to make an animated icon of the guy having his head sawed in half, but otherwise it wasn't as funny as the SSBB review, mostly because he didn't hate SSBB as much as looooaaaaatttthhheeed it. Plus, I don't own a PSP and never played a God of War game.
Haha, the point about grime in the PSP's nub really hit home.
It's doubly bad for me because I have the white Star Wars PSP...
@jsf49: Psychonauts. He loved it, and Bioshock he liked. And we can't forget Half Life 2: Episode 2 Manchester United 0, and The Orange Box, and especially Portal.
I'll admit, I like it when he's got more venom in him, but then again, if he didn't like anything, and you'd wonder if he just simply being negative.
And I guess I know what his opinion of the Conan game would be, too.
@Salen:
He also liked Zack & Wiki and No More Heroes.
I think I can safely say that everyone is hoping next week is the GTA review :D
I think Yahtzee should start doing a weekend old school review where he tackles an old game. Seriously, he puts the Angry Nerd to shame.
Bizarre...his bully's name was the same as an ex-boyfriend...who didn't like video games. Yes world, there has been sad situations where the girl has had to drag their boyfriend into a game store to ogle the latest Zelda game or watch gaming videos online. Fortunately, the current sig-fig is a gamer and likes very similar games at that.
@dannyb0y: For shame! AVGN will outlast this guy no problem.
James has more personality than this guy by far.
Lol I called it the "Fuck you button" too :D
Cripes, dude! BREATHE!!!!
Sticker Bricks! I feel five again...
Now what were their real name?
Yeah I'll be buying this once it hits $30 or less since its confirmed, Chains of Olympus > SSBB. :-) In all seriousness though, he really loves to rile up the fanboys.
@Erwin: Ahh, Stickle Bricks. I just called them Sticker bricks as a child with an apparent speech impediment. Anyway, Stickle Bricks! and so on.
Thing that's so great about ZP reviews is that even if the review isn't that good (which is rare), there are always some priceless 'Yahtzee-isms'.
I hope it gets PS2 ported, because I'll never own a PSP, bnut I might just own a BC-ps3...
Still the same old Yahtzee, still brilliant.
And you have to love that he left "Brawl still shit" just to rile up the fanboys, like me.
GAAAAAA!!
LOL "The Fuck You Button" ONCE IN A WHILE THAT'S WHAT i LIKE TO CALL IT.
@jsf49: He liked Portal, he kinda like Condemned2 until it started with the fantastical stuff, and I know there were a couple others. He doesn't always completely hate the games he just points out the many flaws that most games have.
I didn't find it particularly funny this week. Actually, I haven't laughed at it in a few weeks. Maybe he's losing his touch.
My company has now blocked new.egg or whatever video they use (not youtube or anything popular)
Awesome review. Although I've always called it the Fatality (complet in Mortal Konbat announcer voice) button.
Like you've actually got a brain and shit!
@balls187++:
looks like someone owes me $10 bucks!
back to the point though, i still havent tried GOW for psp, so i cant make a comment except that this review makes me even more excited to be a blood driven man!
Ha! Joke's on him! I don't have a girlfriend.
Wait... Shit.
I love the gameplay in GoW--I just wish that Kratos was a better character.
It's fine that he's more 'barbaric villain' than 'gallant hero', but does he have to be so damned dumb?
Zeus: Kratos, the gods of Olympias are troubled. It seems the word 'gullible' isn't in the Dictionary of Hermes.
Kratos: Woah, really?
Zeus: No, I was kidding you moron.
Kratos: ARG! You tricked me!
hahah, who says you've got to be a gamer's girlfriend to want to jog his knob? His vitriol makes me horny.
HAHA oh the credits. "This just in, Brawl still shit."
Truth.
it's been a while since he really REALLY hated a game hasn't it?
Ah, Its hard to not enjoy his British wit and charm
I loved this one. Ah, I love them all!
I love his reviews, but what I love more about his reviews are the same people who stick up for him one week about a game, but when he reviews a game they like the same people say that particular review sucked.
Keep on chuggin' Yahtzee.
@ResetSmith: just like GTA4 was a 360 exclusive.
I think the beginning was funny and it got boring.
The PSP's horrible controls don't get made fun of enough now. People have just rolled over and take it for what it is.
I think I've had my fill of Yahtzee.
Yeah, Yahtzee's not funny anymore.
and in all the regards of all the people who loves hid Brawl review: you bitched when he did his Halo 3 review and you know it.
@Cruithne: @ila: You had to wonder when it would start, when enough people would like ZP that it would become Internet Cool to hate it.
Also, I'm a big Halo fan, I thought his Halo review was funny, and I thought his Brawl review, while funny, was kind of missing the point, although the "That Guy" joke was spot-freaking-on. But, yeah, Brawl was definitely not worth the wait. A great game, but could've been done three years earlier, on Gamecube.
Yup, the funniest part was probably the last screen.
Anyway... Magic, useless? I used it way more than in the other GOW games. Charon's Wrath + Poseidon's fist-glove-thing-weapon are an incredible combo.
@GhaleonUnlimited: It would be a little silly to make fun of the PSP's controls when Ready At Dawn did such an outstanding job, making the controls nigh on impeccable.
GOW-COO is one game where you cannot blame your failures on bad controls - blame them on ridiculous boss fights or that stupid unlockable potato costume which keeps distracting you from said ridiculous boss fights. (Even though unlimited magic makes you de facto immortal.)
There's one question I wish he'd answered, though: did he get his game at GAMETRADERS ROBINA ?
I don't think they'll release a PS2 port. They released ports in the past because the PSP wasn't too popular and the PS2 was still relevant. But it's 2008, the PSP has gained some good momentum and the PS2 is about ready to go to the console graveyard. Sony would benefit from keeping it a PSP exclusive title in order to push God of War fans to buy a PSP.
doesn't work! Want to watch it
@dabu: agreed. i can be a gamer interested in reviews and also want to fuck the reviewer.
Pretty good. Not his best work though.
perfect timing, I just got God of War II yesterday because I realized the price finally dropped to $20.
The rumor from some of the devs I've talked to is
Ps2 port =
really, really, really..
really, not going to happen.
The bit about a cutscene before a boss...why do any games have this? Aren't we far enough along now in gaming that we've learned that repeating dialogue after a death is the worst curse any gamer can withstand?
It's ok to blow someone's head off with a shotgun, but it's not ok to drink and drive.
I get it now.
Meant to post that in the gta article :(
furious bloodstained sticklbricks.
best line ever.
This guy isn't a real reviewer btw :P
@NPlace: I don't hate the guy, and I'm sure he's still funny to lots of people. I have just had my fill.
It's more to do with my attention span than anything else.
